I know this has been covered before but one of my guys got a traffic camera ticket for supposedly not stopping at a stop sign about 2 months ago. Then this week another ticket comes in the mail for going 8 mph over in a school zone on a Saturday. The tickets come to my office because it’s a company owned truck. I’ve not paid the first one and received a nasty letter. Guy is a good driver and we have worked together since 1986. What’s the worst the traffic camera company can do? Possibly try and hurt my company credit? I don’t give a crap if they do because I don’t use credit. Oh both these tickets were in center point which for those who don’t know used to be a nice place but is now a shithole.

I would ignore and wait for the next nasty letter and then ignore that one too.

As a business owner, you are on the hook for any accidents/injuries/deaths caused by your drivers. Even if you have good insurance, a civil suit can easily exceed your policy limits and they can come after you for additional amounts over that limit and potentially take everything you own. I would want them driving responsibly at all times so I would have a policy where you pay the tickets but the amount is deducted from their income maybe after you handle their first ticket if they are a good employee.

This $41t is getting out of control. Ticket in mail for a stop sign! Land of the free baby, land of the free.

As a business person I'd look into starting a new business. How to remove and flamethrower traffic cams. They might notice two or three but you extra crispy thirty of these things that would make you a hero. "Free Center Point from oppressive traffic cameras and stick it to The Man!" Once a month have beer and buffalo wings to accept "donations for the cause". Probably get rich off of it. Your welcome.

My business is incorporated. I am not personally responsible for anything unless I sign a personal guarantee on an account. My understanding is that the corporate umbrella protects me personally. I’m not an attorney but have operated with that understanding since 1992. That said I just talked to an attorney while shooting skeet and he said it would be in my best interest just to pay the damn tickets and avoid all the headaches that the collection company could cause me including being able to renew my truck tags. Not really what I wanted to hear but maybe I’ll just pay the tickets and figure out a way to cost the city of center point some money.

They will get their money one way or the other and the "other" way could involve additional fees. This is why I tell people on here, if driving through Texas and you get a NTTA toll bill, pay it. The $5 toll can become a $1500 toll plus penalty fees, attorney fees, etc if you ignore it long enough. When my son was divorcing his first wife I told him to get the toll tag as it was in his name. Nope. 7 months later he is in jail, car towed and has to come up with $5000 in toll and fees because his ex just threw them in the trash.

Yeah I guess I’ll pay the two tickets and be done. We don’t even work over there very often but have a customer who manages some rental houses out there. Next time I’m out there I’m going to look for a few city owned municipal buildings and check out the restrooms for Amy type of plumbing problems that might come up or maybe something else that’s not working right. One way or another the city will spend more than those tickets cost.

I have no idea what TX law is but that can't and won't happen in AL. In AL, all traffic cameras are Civil and you can't be jailed for civil offenses. As to the OP, the worst that can happen to your company is credit issues and collection agencies. I always add this qualifier, and I should've done it earlier, you can't go to jail for picture tickets unless a judge issues a subpoena from his bench and you ignore it. He can then cite you for Contempt of Court.

I appreciate your response jawbone and your insight to post on aldeer. I’m sure we now lots of the same people from Selma since I spent 30 years hunting down there and one of my best friends is from there. As a retired Leo I always like your posts. I went to Selma at the end of January this year because a friend wanted me to come hunt with his dad maybe for the last time and was blown away driving through town looking at how many vacant buildings there are and how the windows are broken out of so many places that have just been abandoned. Even some really nice houses have gone to complete ruin which set me back a bit. Glad I made the move north and I’m sure you are as well but I will go to my grave thinking about all the good hunts I had down there.

I'm honestly shocked the cameras haven't been shot in Centerpoint. My truck doesn't have company anything on it. Nor will it ever. There are products that prevents tag readers from picking up your tag. https://photoblocker.com/

Urban blight, poor governance, and a terrible tornado is a really bad combination. Even though I don't call it my home these days, it is still my hometown and is full of great people, not to mention the hunting is pretty good.

I hate that you got stuck with the bill for that b.s. The cameras should be a huge source of revenue for Centerpoint because the local democrats think a red light is just a suggestion. I cut through there going from Gardendale to Trussville for work every day. You learn pretty quick to look twice at an intersection even if you have the green light.

The one i got in siveirville tenn said it won't go against your license or credit so ask yourself why would you pay it. K threw it away and if those tickets says the same thing throw it away too.

The Parking Tickets in Selma are the same way. No follow up or repercussions for not paying so one of the guys that worked for me just called them an "Honesty Tax".
