I normally use HWY 231 coming/going to PCB Fl. For some unknown reason, I went up 331. About a week later ,I received a ticket photo ticket from Brantley Al. It came registered mail so I checked into this nice little town. Seems the town has more tickets than ANY OTHER small town east of the Mississippi River. So I waited for 30 days and paid the ticket($57 ). You can bet your sweet ass that I will NEVER, NEVER get on HWY 331 again. Normally don't spend much extra money while traveling, but nothing will be all that this highway will get..BTW the camera was at a point where you came around a curve, speed limit 55 to a school zone speed changed in about 100 feet.

I saw that too, I think. Was it the one by a school on a downhill road? Outside of Gordo (westbound) on 82 it’s been construction for 3 damn years and I just take my foot off the gas and coast downhill at 50-55.

I thought alabama passed a law that says a town cannot derive more than 10% of its operating revenue from tickets. I would be real curious to see how much of their revenue comes from tickets!

They cut it off on slow revenue days. Its pretty easy to figure which days 331 in Brantley is going to get a lot of traffic.

rofl speed limit changes at least two times once you pass Old Gin Creek and enter downtown. I go 20 from the gas station past the school to avoid slowing and accelerating multiple times. Pretty little town but stupid speed limits and traffic pattern. rofl

I bet it would really hurt your feelings to learn that private companies set those things up and keep the lion's share of the fine money collected. When you send your payment in notice where it goes to. Not the Municipality.

I’ve got about 5 parking tickets in Auburn over the last 2-3 years, all in my company owned truck. If you know Auburn, their parking enforcement is nearly predatory. Their parking tickets aren’t issued by the actual police department. I noticed on the tickets, there are no “pay by” dates listed. So technically, they can never tell me they are late. So, I’ve never paid them. The truck I got all the tickets in has since been replaced and sold. I’m not sure how that affects everything but I’m not too worried about it.

I’ve had several people reach out and tell me about the broken financial situation in center point. Yes the owners of the cameras get the majority of the fines. It’s a shame

My problem isn't with actual police doing traffic enforcement but these companies getting rich off of this and not having anymore training or authority than regular people. We could get a lawyer and sue or locate these cameras and office people and ask them politely to stop upon refusal make the business model null and void. Everyones a bad man til your cameras get burnt up like Col.sanders extra crispy. People get frustrated with these Ngo's and how helpless we are against them. We ain't helpless. Brang da pain.

"In Alabama, a speed limit can be reduced from 55 mph by more than 10 mph in a short distance if warranted by conditions. However, state traffic guidelines advise that an advance "Reduced Speed Limit Ahead" warning sign should be posted if the drop exceeds 10 mph". Was there a reduced speed limit ahead sign there?
