Anybody still put them out? Its been 5 tears since i have . A combination of so much grass and livescopes finding them. I think when it dries up some I am going to do it again.

We try to put 5 or 6 out a year… I don’t feel guilty finding other piles but I do understand the process of putting em out….so I like kinda having some I know I put out

I have found way more than I have put out but i will make some on occasion. These are the most recent I have done. Just Crepe Myrtle Trimming and stuck in a cinder block and quickrete on top. I zip tie a gatorade bottle to one of the center limbs to keep it up. and can drop these out by myself. ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/fXG8svU.jpeg)

Illegal down here in Florida which is a shame because there’s a lot of lakes that might have shoreline vegetation/structure but the rest of the lake is a desert.

I’ve started making stake beds using the orange fiber optic piping as you get hung up WAY less on those than dropping trees. I use the same method above using the cinder blocks as they will stay standing up. I will also use hardwood stakes in the cinder blocks if I want a structure that’s a little taller.

I have probably put out close to 75 in the past year here at Lake Martin. When I was striper fishing never considered it but now that I have gotten addicted to crappie fishing, I have gone all in, from creating my own brushpiles to hand tying my own jigs.

I put about 20 new ones in eufaula every yr. Most get found but that's just part of it. I got away from bamboo and only use crepe myrtle now.

Two of you here are using Crepe Myrtle. I've never put any out so I know little about what works best and why. Is it better for attracting them? Lasts longer? Something about the way it shows on sonar? Why not Cedar, Leland Cypress, Water Oak, Boxwood, etc.?

You just want a little to hold it up but not to lift the cinder block. Of course it is not totally necessary as you can catch fish on them laying over as well.
