I'm not aware of any law or rule that prohibts quartering to pack out a deer that has been taken legally. You do need to be aware of this rule: 220-2-.15 Destroying Sex of Deer or Wild Turkey Prohibited
It is hereby made unlawful for any person who kills, captures, or possesses a deer or wild turkey, in order to evade or attempt to evade any law or regulation, to destroy or attempt to destroy the evidence of sex, or to mutilate the carcass of such deer or wild turkey so as to make the determination of the legal status of the deer or turkey uncertain. Nothing in this regulation is intended to prevent any person from dressing for consumption any deer or wild turkey which has been killed legally. This regulation is designed to prohibit the killing or capturing of illegal deer and wild turkey hens. (empasis is mine)

On a somewhat related note, threre are laws and rules dealing with transporting game that you should also be aware of: Code of Alabama 1975 Section 9-11-85
Game fish to be transported openly; confiscation, etc., of game fish taken or transported illegally.
All game fish taken in this state must at all times be carried or transported openly, and failure to do so shall constitute a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not less than $10.00 nor more than $25.00. All game fish carried or transported in an illegal manner or taken or killed illegally shall be confiscated and disposed of under regulations promulgated by the Commissioner of Conservation and Natural Resources.
(Acts 1935, No. 383, p. 813, � 24; Code 1940, T. 8, �64.) (emphasis is mine) Section 9-11-259

(1) Pursuant to the Code of Alabama, 1975, Sections 9-11-259 and 9-11-85, which provided in effect that all game birds, animals or fish taken or killed in this State must at all times be carried or transported openly and that all game birds, animals or fish carried or transported in an illegal manner shall be confiscated and disposed of under regulations by the Commissioner; any live box, holding box, game bag, hunting coat, camping equipment, or like receptacles, or any automobile or boat used for the carrying or holding of any fish, game birds, or game animals or any gun or fishing tackle used in hunting or fishing shall be subject to inspection by officers of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources at all times upon proper identification of said officer. Any person who refuses to allow inspection of the above named articles shall be in violation of this regulation and shall be punished as provided by law.

That is a violation of both the law and the DCNR's own rules. If they don't want game to be seen by the public, there are proper proceedures to amend the laws and rules that have not been used to make such changes.

We had a man in our club in Perry County that would knock you down to get to dress out a deer. He would bone it out while it was hanging. He just loved doing it. Even in freezing weather!
He was a good guy who worked on the railroad with me and my dad.

If you're hunting a wma that requires you bring a deer to be checked in, weighed, aged, etc it may not be allowed.

only thing I can think of offhand is IF doe season isn't open where you are hunting ya better pack out some part that ids the deer as a buck.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

I clean them either on the ground or tailgate and the only thing a saw is needed for it to cut the antlers off. This method also keeps me from having to fool with the guts.

I use a very portable breakdown hoist and gambrel and bone them out in the woods-- drop the guts to get the tenders, kidneys and heart. The only bone I keep is the shoulder-- Everything goes into a large backpack, and into coolers back at the truck. I have already had two hernia repairs from dragging deer, and really don't plan on ever doing it again.

While I can appreciate the skill he has in doing that, if I had a long trip back to the truck with one that size, I'd drop the guts in the woods, tie it's feet together and tote it out. That deer wouldn't weigh 35-40 lbs field dressed.

Fur, he did say he finally had one down with plenty of daylight for video. Otherwise, good video. But I'm goin in for the loin meat on the inside.  And yeah, I always used a saw to cut a leg. No more.

Fur, he did say he finally had one down with plenty of daylight for video. Otherwise, good video. But I'm goin in for the loin meat on the inside. And yeah, I always used a saw to cut a leg. No more. I clean them the exact same way he did in the vid, but I do get the inner loins. It's easy to do by just making a single incision. Just be sure not to cut too deep and puncture the guts.

That is true. Regarding the front leg. I have not used a saw in 15 years, AND it's not near as easy to get that joint apart as he made it look. When I saw that, I knew that guy was the real deal.
