As much as I love where i live now and the rural pace of south Pickens county, if I could have my parents lake place on Martin back, I would move to east Alabama in a heartbeat. It changed a lot in the 20 years we were there and I know it has changed more in the nearly decade since they sold. Other posters are right, outsiders have ruined the lakes that many of us remember as kids.

I guess Guntersville. It's close by so I already know it fairly well. Of course I know enough people around close enough that I would never have to fish alone unless I wanted to. Plenty of room to roam. Crappie in the winter is great. If I ever decide to Bass fish again, I'll be at the right place. Nowhere near as muddy as the Coosa. Good variety of species like Sauger and a few others that ain't on some other lakes in Alabama. Huge Blues and Flatheads. I could go on but I'll stop here.

Oh! WAIT! I forgot. There's only two Crappie left in Guntersville. One is only 5 inches long and the other has had his lips torn up so bad a hook would never hold.

I have a home on Wilson Lake in the Shoals on the Colbert side of the lake. A huge chunk of the lake across the river in the Lauderdale side is being bought up by folks from Nashville. Most of the TN folks are different than what we are used to. I worked hard and appreciate what we have but those folks think they are owed something imo.

Just my $0.02
