I’m right handed and left eye dominant. With a scoped rifle he will be fine shooting right handed. With a bow he will be better off going left handed, trust me on this. He will also be better off shooting shotguns, pistols and open sights left handed. I shoot everything right handed. A bow will give me trouble in low light if I don’t close my left eye. I absolutely suck at shooting doves right handed. If I ever go again I will probably wear a patch on my left eye. I do fine with open sights on a rifle right handed. I shoot a pistol right handed but aim with my left eye. Yep, weird, but I’m pretty sporty with a handgun. When I was a kid, I was deadly with a Red Ryder BB gun. No one noticed that I was shooting right handed but aiming with my left eye. No one noticed it until the first time I attempted to shoot a scoped 22. I was trying to shoot it right handed and use my left eye, so I couldn’t see through the scope. I was really heavy into shooting archery competitions from 2000 up until 2013 and did very well. Just got back into it last year. Shot with an archery coach at a national shoot probably 25 years ago and he said I would really be hell if I made the swap to a left handed bow. Main reason I never did was because of the Buckmasters Top Bow Championship. You have to load and shoot at a very fast pace. Me trying to load quick with my left hand wasn’t happening. I tried a few left hand bows and adjusted very quickly and did really well with them. Glad I didn’t swap because I’m a lot weaker on my left side since breaking my neck in 2009.
