Boho and I drove 7 hours on Monday so we could come back up to the mountain and vote.

After breakfast and running some errands we came back home, we both got on our computers, got us some ice water, sat on the back deck and spent over 2 hours researching the candidates, reading about them, watching video interviews of them, discussed them all between watching and reading. Then we downloaded and printed out our sample ballots for our specific county, we came to a consensus on who we were both going to vote for, marked up our ballot, drove to the little country church down in the valley and both voted the same way.

On the way back from the voting place we looked at each other and wondered how many folks actually take the time to research everyone they are voting for down to the lowest office on the ballot.

What percentage of folks do you think actually research candidates before voting?

Nearly zero

Most folks are party lever pullers and never think twice about the specific candidates. Thats why its become a Uniparty clown show in this country.

We had friends over for dinner last night and we discussed it and that's the same conclusion we came to.

To be honest, it was a pain in the ass finding information about some of the candidates. It wasn't easy.

When we got down to a couple in each race that were neck and neck in our minds, then we listened and watched interviews of them just to figure out which one seems to be the most intelligent and we always voted for the one that seemed smarter of the two.

I at least want an intelligent, thoughtful and pragmatic person in there, even if they don't agree with me on everything.

I've become one of those people Skinny in the general election. When the selections are a republican or a demorat, I no longer feel that there is a choice. They both suck but unfortunately so far, only one party would like to destroy the 2nd amendment.

Oh yeah. Once the general election gets here, we just vote the lesser of two evils. Not a lot of research required at that point.

I told Boho back in 2016 picking between Trump and Hillary was like picking between Hitler and Mussolini.

I agree guys, the number of people that do any kind of candidate research ahead of time is miniscule. I no longer work the polling places during elections (thank God), but you wouldn't be surprised by how many people do not even know what ticket their candidate of interest is running on during a primary election.

The Dems are open about wanting to destroy the 2nd. The Reps are open about making concessions that chip away at the 2nd.

I only voted for one incumbent yesterday and I've never come close to culling them like that before. And I don't expect any change, in a good direction, in the time that I have left here. I fear the society that my granddaughters will witness in their adult lives after I'm gone.

Depends on the definition and degree of research . I'm the inspector at precinct 14 , in Jackson Co. I notice how many pull out a sample ballot or hand written notes. Maybe some only vote a few races and have it in their heads . I don't vote on all myself , only those I know or have researched. As far as doing minimal research I'd guess , maybe 25% . I try to figure who's the slowest path to Socialism.

It's encouraging to hear that other folks are at least doing some research.

My wife and I did our research over the past few weeks and did our civic duty and voted yesterday. I take this birthright serious and I encourage all in my family to do the same no matter who they vote for.

Agreed. I was proud to do my little part.

The problem now days is that your research could be filled with bs. With the advancement of technology, who knows the truth about anything political? It was hard enough knowing the true person when a little bit of truth about them was put out there. With enough resources, a liar can make themselves look like the better decision.

If you live your life like everything is a lie, it becomes a sad paranoid existence.

At least I tried my best to make an informed decision... And that's what matters to me.

The kicker is that research usually turns up 2 things. Negative stuff they say about each other, which might be true or it might not. And also you find the stuff they say they are going to change or the things they stand for. Which also may or may not be true. I tend to think they will all say anything to get the vote and then they will say anything to stay elected as long as possible and climb the ladder to self wealth. They are just salesmen. And I’ve been in sales.

Again... All Boho and I can do is the best we can and that's what we did.

The alternative is to just not go vote and instead spend a bunch of time on the internet bitching to everyone about the people we never researched or voted for in the first place.
