Looking for a nice MOM/POP MOTEL IN this area . Would like the Gulf Front. Have been staying in PCB at the PALMETTO and would like something similar to it. Anyone worth but not breaking the bank?

Some of the places on the west end would probably be what you seek. The east end had built up pretty good

Young’s by the sea. Last stayed there in the 70’s. There and the lighthouse are where we stayed when I was a kid. The rich folks stayed at the Boardwalk.

About all there was back then was the White Capps in OB owned by the Capps family, Young’s owned by the Kings, the Rolling Tide, the Light House, the Esquire Inn and the Sea Horse which was located in front of the Pink Pony owned by Bubba and Ann Jewel. I’m sure some of you Selma people remember his family members Jake and Jerry. I used to hang around the Sea Horse a lot because the Pub had a great fishing pier. There were a handful of other motels, like the ones where the old draw bridge was by Tacky Jacks in GS.

Y'all we drove along beach road last night on our way back to Fort Morgan from north of Pensacola... and it's like wall to wall condos from Perdido except for the state park (WHICH IS AWESOME). I told Irish that it basically looks like Destin through here! You can hardly tell there's a beach behind them. I do not recall any mom and pop places however, there could be across the street from the beach. There are some much older places across the street but I'm sorry I cannot readily recall them. We were exhausted so we were just trying to get safely home.

As mentioned, there aren’t any more mom and pop hotels left. The closest thing you’ll get to that experience is at some of the older/smaller condo complexes. I really like staying at the Lei Lani (they have beachside and bayside) check on Vrbo, Airbnb, etc. if we’re just looking for a quick pop in we like the sleep inn in OB, been a solid spot for us for 20 years.

The left lane is for the the purpose of moving the flow of traffic forward regardless of the speed limit. If your impeding the flow of traffic get your ass in the right lane. It's really that simple...

Some of the places on the west end would probably be what you seek. The east end had built up pretty good West end is what I'd recommend. My favorite area is the last bit between the pass and the Florida border on the east side. Great bait shop not to far and beaches arent as crowded.

Stayed at the palmetto from 1980- 2008 sure hated when Rick sold it. It will be hard to find one that good

When new owners took over , the motel changed from a likable place to a we need to make money. Granted that is the reason that all companies operate but, somehow It Lost the family/good friend atmosphere. Cleanliness went down.We like the area that the hotel is in so we continue to go there, but we take our own linens for the bed including the pillows. Normally only 1 of the 2 elevators work. Rant over! Still like the area, close to all that we need

Been going to Gulf Shores every other year for 16'ish years. Many years back we settled on The Beach Club - Gulf Shores. I doubt you can get a reservation but I thought you might like to bookmark it for next year. All of our extended family love it.
I don't want to pass quietly into the night. I want to slide in sideways kickin and screamin

I was there about a year ago - was nice - had little restaurant down stairs that served pizza etc. they also hav one of the fancier amd some say nicest steak house in orange beach “Voyagers”
They use to play music just off the pool. I would stay again
