Property taxes will go up somewhat gradually as they always have if we keep the grocery tax. My thinking is that if they do away with it, there will be a gianormous property tax increase within a few months or year at most. Maybe several.

A true property tax / millage rate increase in Alabama must be voted on. Alabamians don't "cotton" to voting to increase taxes. That's why Montgomery does an end around with frequent property reassessments.
