When discussing the science of pitching, the professor was giving details about it and said, paraphrasing, "By doing this you could get anybody out, except that &$%#in Tony Gwynn. He could hit anything".
For those that don't know who The Professor is, he is Greg Maddox. Probably the best pure pitcher of the modern era. I remember Maddox saying that.
Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.
My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

There's a lot of cool stories scattered through baseball like that. A pitcher came over from the AL to a NL team. He was starting against Atlanta and asked how to pitch to Hank Aaron , the answer, " make sure nobody is on base." Aaron is all time RBI leader.

TG was a major league person as well. Used video after every AB to make adjustments and just a student of the game. In 1996&2001 he had 13 strikeouts for the season... He is/was the assist leader in San Diego State Univ Basketball history. He had more assists in basketball in 4 years of college than he had strikeouts in his 20 year MLB career. Tony Gywnn was the definition of a baller. He was drafted by the Clippers as a point guard.

Another old time favorite story of mine is when one of the great players came up (I forget which one, but he went on to great things) and they were playing St. Louis and Bob Gibson was pitching for the Cardinals. One of the older guys went to the rookie and told him "Whatever you do, don't smile at Gibson or dig in at bat or he'll put you flat on your back." The rookie didn't listen and dug in and Gibson put one about six inches from his chin. The rookie then went on to explain that it was three years before he got a hit off Gibson after that. He said he'd hate to see what he does when someone smiles at him.

Phenomenal hitter
May hav his rookie card I got his rookie card. He was a great one. That's a great card...  One in great condition can sell for over ^6K ....  I didnt have him cause I had stopped collecting baseball cards my junior yr of high school and his rookie card came out in 83...Damn I'm old lol...If Ya'll are ever interested in trading around for some different cards for some old football rookie cards lemme know....
