Buick sold the design to Jeep and then later bought it back.

Back in the early 80's I bought a 1971 Vega with a bad engine (shocker). I realized that GM used the same architecture as the Vega in the Monza. The Monzas could be bought with a V6 or a V8. I found a Monza V6 in a junk yard and got everything I needed to install a V6 in the Vega out of the Monza and then found a 231 C.I. V6 out of a 1978 Grand Prix. My Dad and I installed it in my Vega with some tweaks to the engine including a bigger carb, headers adn dual exhausts. I called it my mini Camaro. It was a fun little ride.
