You can replace the batteries with some work for the DIY. No programming required. Costco did my 2015 toyota for $250.

That vintage Jeep has auto programming sensors. Just buy a set of replacement sensors online for $70-$80, buy a cheap bead breaker, swap out your sensors/valve stems, air everything back up and go for a 15 minute drive. You may also be able to find a shop that will just swap your sensors out without also trying to charge you for programming. Discount Tire in Madison is who i've always had do mine but dont know if they have any down your way.

Little pieces of black electrical tape over the CEL for the tire pressure sensors, ABS/traction controls CEL or even the main CEL is a solution for this out of site out of mind mechanic.

As an owner of multiple CJ's, I'm calling foul on using this to refer to a 2013 Jeep. :D: The TJ was the last real jeep. Once they went to a v6 and offered power windows/door locks, it was all downhill

The batteries go bad in them and that is why they stop working. Had mine done at tire store with aftermarket on my F250. Done well so far.

I don't disagree with you....but, the counterargument to that is that they're not necessarily for knowing the pressure, but to alert you to a tire that is suddenly and rapidly losing air and potentially on the verge of failure.

True, but I'm like Irish. At $120-$150/tire. I'm willing to periodically check them myself and roll the dice while I'm on the road. I've had a bad on on my truck for the past 4 yrs. Yellow light just stays on and I'm not willing to pay the $155 (price quote from 3 yrs ago) to have it fixed. Especially when I can toggle in from the steering wheel and still see the pressures on the other 3 tires.

The 225 ci , Dauntless V6 says hey. Ah, I missed that....I thought the older ones were either v8's or inline 4's/6's Buick sold the design to Jeep and then later bought it back. Back in the early 80's I bought a 1971 Vega with a bad engine (shocker). I realized that GM used the same architecture as the Vega in the Monza. The Monzas could be bought with a V6 or a V8. I found a Monza V6 in a junk yard and got everything I needed to install a V6 in the Vega out of the Monza and then found a 231 C.I. V6 out of a 1978 Grand Prix. My Dad and I installed it in my Vega with some tweaks to the engine including a bigger carb, headers adn dual exhausts. I called it my mini Camaro. It was a fun little ride.
