All you need to know: They are very expensive and are guaranteed to fail at some point. Bad ones are not anywhere close to being worth replacing, when you can buy good manual air gauge for $20. I don't disagree with you....but, the counterargument to that is that they're not necessarily for knowing the pressure, but to alert you to a tire that is suddenly and rapidly losing air and potentially on the verge of failure.
