I read somewhere (maybe here) about a guy putting new sensors in a sealed PVC pipe with a valve stem installed on it. Put the required pressure to it and throw it behind the seat, problem resolved.

I was going to say, "If the tire pressure is good, and you check it a few times. Forget it till new tires."

I replaced them myself for my wife's vehicle in 2024. The batteries were going out in the TPMS sensors in 2 tires.
I bought the 5 Toyota OEM TPMS sensors off eBay ($52.00), and then bought the Autel TS508WF-P Maxi TPMS Diagnostic Service Tool ($161.00) which after watching some YouTube videos was known to work for my wife's vehicle, a 2008 Lexus GX 470.
Broke the tires down with a 4x4 block and skid steed bucket, enough to take the old out and put the new ones in.
Wrote down the old TPMS sensor's numbers down that were in the tires, and the new numbers going in the tires.
Followed directions of the Autel.
If I remember correctly, I had to do the programing process twice, as the first time, I did something out of sequence.
Now I can change the TPMS sensors in my other vehicles, as well- Toyotas.
Not sure if the Autel unit I have, would work for your Jeep though??

David B. I'm thinking of going a similar route getting the bluetooth OBDII thing and the app, because the app and the bluetooth OBDII things will do other stuff too.

The 225 ci , Dauntless V6 says hey. Ah, I missed that....I thought the older ones were either v8's or inline 4's/6's Buick sold the design to Jeep and then later bought it back. Back in the early 80's I bought a 1971 Vega with a bad engine (shocker). I realized that GM used the same architecture as the Vega in the Monza. The Monzas could be bought with a V6 or a V8. I found a Monza V6 in a junk yard and got everything I needed to install a V6 in the Vega out of the Monza and then found a 231 C.I. V6 out of a 1978 Grand Prix. My Dad and I installed it in my Vega with some tweaks to the engine including a bigger carb, headers adn dual exhausts. I called it my mini Camaro. It was a fun little ride. 225 Dauntless V6, "odd fire" was used in Jeeps from '66 through '71. The odd/skip fire when idled down and open exhaust sounds like a Harley thumping. The engineer who thought of using it in a Jeep was genius for the time, it has a 3.75" bore and 3.40 stroke with a very heavy flywheel . At 160 hp, it catches RPMs very quick and holds them, is smooth and torquey.  Mid 70's GM got the engine back bored it +.050 , changed the crankshaft so it would even fire. The gas saving EPA was in full swing so the 331 only cranked out about 110-120 hp. The Guvment can flat screw up a good thing.

I think they’re a scam. Got a light on in my 2017 4Runner. It came on after I had the dealer install new tires. When I asked about it they said if they broke a sensor during the new tire install, they will replace the sensor for free. If the battery is bad then they will charge me to replace the battery.

Have I mentioned how much I despise technology where it really isn't needed?
My 2013 Jeep Rubicon has been giving me erroneous tire pressure readings for the last few months. So I called some local tire shops down here in Gulf Shores and they gave me prices from $110 - $156 PER TIRE! to replace the TPMS. That just seems insane.
I know I'm becoming this crotchety old man, but damn... I'm totally shocked by the price to replace something that in my mind is so unnecessary. I know how to check my tire pressures, I've been doing it all my life.
I just can't bring my cheap ass to spend $500 on tire pressure sensors. What have y'all done? That’s probably aftermarket which I’ve gotten before and the price sounds about standard. Factory ones are where it gets pricey

I had mine replaced 2 times now on my Tundra, at a local tire store. I have/had one toyota one,all the rest were aftermarket. The price you quoted was about what I paid.
Alot of the time you can find OEM online much cheaper. I think they are useful. Mine let me know I had a leak in a tire on the way to see my parents a couple years ago. I stopped at a gas station, which was way better than getting stranded.
Be sure to get your spare sensor replaced too. I always hate it when my spare is low, such a pita!!
