Have I mentioned how much I despise technology where it really isn't needed?
My 2013 Jeep Rubicon has been giving me erroneous tire pressure readings for the last few months. So I called some local tire shops down here in Gulf Shores and they gave me prices from $110 - $156 PER TIRE! to replace the TPMS. That just seems insane.
I know I'm becoming this crotchety old man, but damn... I'm totally shocked by the price to replace something that in my mind is so unnecessary. I know how to check my tire pressures, I've been doing it all my life.
I just can't bring my cheap ass to spend $500 on tire pressure sensors. What have y'all done?

I've been ignoring mine for the past few years. I wish I could just take them off and make the warning go away. I already have a tire gauge in the glove box.

The TPMS sensor light should remain in the default ON setting and cut off when there is a problem.

Some vehicles you can remove them , put in old school, standard valves and "trick" the sensor light . Had a '06 Tacoma that was "tricked" by a Toyota Tech. Check youtube for your Jeep.

My wife’s tire sensors have been out for 3-4 years on her 4Runner. I got the same price from my tire shop and said no way. It’s insane!

When trucks first started using TPS they sucked. I gave up and just ignored the light on my 2008 Chevy.
But the trucks ive owned since 2018 haven't had any issues with the TPS.

This sounds like the best solution to me.

Just had mine changed at Ken's Tire and Wheel in Hueytown. I can't remember how much, but it wasn't near that much. I had a nail in the front left. Plugged it, aired it back up, it's holding fine. But immediately after that, my sensors just randomly start showing low pressure in a different tire every few minutes.
Yesterday, that front left tire was flat again. Aired it up, sensors all went back to normal again. Tire has held pressure for weeks before yesterdays flat. And since I filled it yesterday, it's still holding pressure.
Not sure what the hell is going on with it, but will iron that out tomorrow. In the mean time I'm toting my small compressor around with me.
For the record, I purchased aftermarket sensors first, But they didn't work, couldn't sync to my truck, despite the tool I purchased to do so. That's why I had Ken's do it.
If you're in my area you can have the tool. I don't need it and it didn't work on my truck.

Update.
I just called Walmart in GS and they said $45 per tire, so that doesn't seem all that bad since they have to remove, remount and rebalance the tires when doing it. So I may just wait until I buy new tires. I've been wanting to go with a slightly smaller tire on the Jeep anyway.

The VHB & Skull Screws are other favorites of mine.

my 2013 F150 has had the tire light on it since I bought it in 2016ish. At least 2 of the sensors were bad the last time I checked and I forget how much it was to replace them but I remember thinking it was a retarded amount of money, considering they don't tell you which tire is low, or the individual tire pressures. GM has been able to do that since the late 90's if not earlier. But it wasn't worth it to me to spend that money just to make the light go away
