Never heard of them. I'll have to try them. They aren't too far from Camp Little Ridge.

I'll have to check them out too. Not too far away from the Beach Bungalow.

They have a place in downtown Gadsden now and serve booze. We have been to both places and both are good. The old place out by Glenco is really old school.

It was actually closer to East Lake/Wahouma area; 68th St and 1st Ave No. Just a few blocks from Cascade Plunge. Went there many times.

I grew up in Cahaba Heights, but I had relatives not far from there and friends too. We lived in East Lake for a couple of years when I was married to my first wife and we were young and broke. So very familiar with the area.

I miss seeing signs like that. They were a lot cooler back then compared to what businesses have now.

this was another one a few blocks away from Kelly's; the neon pig was animated to look ;like it was running. Great BBQ; 25cents for a burger and 35 cents for a pulled pork sandwich when I was a kid.

We used to eat at Andrews all the time.

I used to love the Krispy Kreme donuts over there by Roebuck Golf Course. Loved to eat a fresh hot donut.

I remember one of the original El Palacio Mexican restaurants used to be there nearby. Back then there were only like 4 Mexican restaurants in Birmingham and they were all El Palacio.

El Palacio in East lake used to be next door to a titty bar called Playhouse East. It was worse than The Boobie Trap. i went home with one of the dancers one night when I was about 15 or 16. She taught me some interesting stuff. It was all fun and games until early one morning her husband called and told her he had gotten out of prison and was headed home. I got out of her place fast, walked to a pay phone and found a friend that was up to come pick me up.

It's a funny story now, but it wasn't back then.

Best salsa in Birmingham now is El Barrio; IMO.
