I try my best to look at my life as a gift. Im not anywhere near always successful and have to re adjust to that attitude all the time. Like Pwyse I have learned there are many injustices out there beyond my control and I try not to get to wrapped up in them. That attitude has come with age for me. If there is something within my realm of control to do something about then I may if I decide its worth my time and whatever sacrifice it may take to do so. Other than that, Im gonna slow my ass down, stop looking at all the media crap etc that is designed to either make me worry or make me mad and have a hap hap happy day.

What does it matter? What we think will fix it doesn’t matter at all. Griping without a solution doesn’t matter because your solutions don’t matter because we aren’t even in the discussion on what’s wrong with the country, not to mention how to fix it. I’ve learned recently you got controllables and uncontrollables in life. Worrying or trying to find solutions to the uncontrollables is a waste of time and resources.
Now if you are doing it for entertainment, there is some value in it. We all need some entertainment from time to time. But our solutions or what we thing is broke don’t matter at all to the reality of the power to affect it. Correct. They don't give a single damn what any regular person thinks. If you can't line their pockets or write a significant campaign check that helps with their reelection you absolutely do not matter. The more we can get people to treat these politicians like the dogshit they are just maybe they will decide the stain on their family name isn't worth the price of running. That is likely wishful thinking but I still enjoy watching them get the disrespect they've earned.

Have fun, laugh, make memories with family and friends and share the love of Christ. Sometimes it gets the best of me too but I’m learning to see what it’s really all about.

I'll soon be 69 years old and know that the best that I can do is make the best of every day and try to leave my family in the best scenario for self sustaining abilities that I can. Nobody is coming to help us. We are it. And the thought of what my granddaughters will endure in the years after I'm gone enrages me but it's futile to let that get inside me.
Term limits would have been a good thing before government got too big to be reigned in. That ship has sailed. eventually there will be a military coup and that will decide who remains the best country on the planet. God be with those that only want to be left alone to live in freedom. The return of Jesus is the only way out of here.

The dirty secret is that the economy is so entangled with the government that any cut in spending will likely result in a recession/depression. No politician wants to have a hand in another recession. Fact is, the government has been propping up the economy since the recession of 08. The big insurance companies and big pharma all are on the government teet due to Medicare/Medicaid and the way they wrote Obamacare. The big box stores make tons off of SNAP and EBT. Tech companies and defense contractors are all tied in via DOD contracts. There’s many more examples out there but those are some big ones. If you are going to make significant cuts, you have to address the big dollar programs and thus those big companies will begin to layoff and downsize, thus the market will tank. Probably would need to institute a spending level freeze, pass sunset provisions for Social Security and the other unfunded liabilities, end tax loopholes, and pass reciprocal tariffs to try and get revenues to catch up to expenditures. Once that happens, you can start cutting without major upheaval.
That definitely won’t happen anytime soon. Frankly the political class (the ones with half a brain) know that there is no off ramp. They are going to grift as much as possible from the treasury so that when the dollar begins to tank, they can get out of dodge. Until that time, I’ll vote for the candidate who isn’t an incumbent and might at least be a vote against additional spending. Slowest path to the inevitable. This is where we’re at

I quit watching the news as it always put me in a pissed off mood seeing how corrupt and clueless our government is. I am a lot happier not worrying about things I can't control and that.will never change.

Term Limits - two terms, that is it and no lifetime monies. Serving should be an Honor, not a Wealth Making Machine
Congress has to have the same POS Medical Insurance as we do
Voter ID and one day elections
Stop all Pharma advertising
Balanced Budget, Like Warren Buffet suggested
Clean out the Tax system and remove 99% of the rules.
Just have voting districts based on county boundaries, stop the gerrymandering.
No Member of Congress should be able to buy, sell securities during their terms
That is a good start.....

Interest on the national debt is the second largest expenditure, behind Social Security.
It will take a combination of both spending cuts and tax increases to get back to a balanced budget, just because of how large the national debt has become.
The only solution I see is a Constitutional Convention of the States to add a balanced budget Amendment to the Constitution.
