Correct. They don't give a single damn what any regular person thinks. If you can't line their pockets or write a significant campaign check that helps with their reelection you absolutely do not matter. The more we can get people to treat these politicians like the dogshit they are just maybe they will decide the stain on their family name isn't worth the price of running. That is likely wishful thinking but I still enjoy watching them get the disrespect they've earned.
