I did a search on here and didn't find any info. I am researching electric bikes for hunting. I will be in Kentucky and Ohio. Some hills, mud etc. Lots of options out there. If you have experience with an electric bike please provide input. Thanks in advance.

Make sure they're allowed where ya gonna hunt. They're not allowed on 90% of the areas we hunt since they're considered motorized. Pedal assist are a no-go as well

We use Rad Runners here. Just add a power booster box to the bottom and you can go up any hill.

If I were in the market for a true hunting e-bike I would look for one without a derailleur and mid drive motor. I’ve owned a Rad Rover and it was a solid and dependable e-bike. I did several upgrades but it still required me to pedal when hills came into play. I upgraded last fall to Mokwheel Onyx ST and it’s a bigger and stronger bike that will pull hills without the need of pedaling. After I bought that bike I started looking into other bike brands.

Faceoff makes a true hunting e-bike so I would give them a hard look if I were in the market. I will give you some sound advice on mud. If the mud is sticky and starts to build up on the tires a e-bike will become useless in short order. The mud will build up to the point the tires will become wedged between frame and front forks. At that point the mud will have to be dug out.

hardcore e-bikes out of ohio. dual hub motors, i only use the pedals to rest my feet on, just twist the throttle and go. more power than the tires can grip. they also have a mid drive for the rear and a hub motor up front. highly recommend, has been a flawless product for the last two years

First come up with how much you are willing to spend. Then look at all the options in that range. I personally dont think a rear wheel drive only will be enough to do what a hunting bike would be expected to do unless you hunt flat and dry ground. Even then i think you would be disappointed. Look at 2 wheel drive or mid drive. Next look at components and how easily they would be fixed/replaced if something were to go wrong. Like Squeaky said try to avoid derailleur if possible. Then think about step through vs not… i cant imagine having to step over a non step through would be very fun in cold weather gear. Faceoff gets great reviews but they are very pricey. Ditchbird custom also seems like a solid bike for a little less but still up there. All that being said, i went with a hardcore e-bike maverick. It is a dual wheel scooter built for hunting. It is a beast. It hauled me, a deer in a hawk crawler, and all gear for mile with most being uphill with no problem. It doesn’t have pedals and you can stand or sit/lean on the seat. I cant imagine it not being able to do anything i need it to do. I have been really impressed with it so far. They also just started making a mid drive step through bike that im sure is stout. It is definitely overwhelming when you start looking into them and there are way cheaper options than the ones i listed but hopefully this will give you something to look at and can scale down to whatever budget you have.

My son and I both bought Philodo Falcon bikes. They are 60 volt, dual motor bikes that run around $1600 and seem pretty good so far. I have no hills, but they get good reviews from folks that use them in hilly terrain.

if you wanted to dip your toes into an Ebike for cheap, this looks like a really good deal on Amazon right now...

I like that it's got the integrated battery and what looks to be a comfortable seat. I honestly don't see how they make one for this cheap. i would think just the materials would be more expensive than this, but it's got good reviews.

I haven't had it that long to know for sure, but the after charging the battery initially, I had 35 miles on it before I charged it again. there was also at least one line left. I have no hills, but that was not peddling much at all, using the front motor most of the time (it really helps out in soft dry sand) and I'm over 300#. I probably could have gotten 40 miles out of it, and I'm sure it could go much farther under the right conditions.

18 miles was the longest distance i’ve gone without a charge and it was still 80ish % charge. that was multiple days of using it and i do NOT pedal, just motor
