I’ve been looking at leasing land from Rayonier, Weyerhaeuser, and a couple others. Was wondering about how much y’all pay per acre and do you have to pay extra for food plots. Thanks.

Most I’ve been associated with run from 11-17’ish per acre. Really just depends but the lower priced companies are catching up quick to the market.

$10 TO $15 PER AC. Usually you don't pay extra for green fields.

My Weyerhaeuser lease in Escambia county has went up to $11.68 for 4K acres. It was $8.50 2 years ago when SA Timberland owned it. And yes, Weyerhaeuser makes you pay for food plots. $120 per acre and you have to GPS them and send to Weyerhaeuser and they send you a metal tag to put at the plot if you want to protect it from herbicide spraying or planting.

I absolutely hate leasing from a timber company. They are gonna go up just about every year and they are gonna cut timber whenever they want regardless of what they tell you. Fortunately I found a great lease from a individual last season.

IMO, this is one of the most unreasonable things to ask of someone leasing your land to hunt.

Most weyerhauser in wilcox county is in the 17-20$ / acre now Yep, and going up from there, every single year. I know of a couple pieces that are $23/acre. Rayonier and AMP started the lease price "arms race" and when they still leased up everything they had, at those higher prices, all the rest of the timber companies followed suit.

Its going to continue to climb until it hits that ceiling where tracts start going unleased... that's not happening yet. Demand is still very strong.

Also - I hope the state continues to pickup land and expand public opportunities on the land it has because its only going to get more and more crowded as this plays on and hunters drop out of the hunting club game... their new hunting grounds will be their local WMA.
