I have a good friend that lives on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska and he hunts with a Mark 5 270 Weatherby. He shoots 150 gr Nosler Partitions and he uses it for brown bears and moose. He says it is a hammer as long as you do your part, but that's true of any caliber. Buy an old M700 Remington and send the barrel off to Douglas and let them duplicate the contour so that you wont need to do any shock work. Jimmy McCollough over in Valley Grande can handle that job and he is the best 'smith to be found. You have my vote James, I like the 270 Weatherby too. An old hunting buddy of mine had a 264 Win that had the throat shot out and he bought a 270 Weatherby to replace it. Said it was a better round than the 264 ever dared to be.
