They wanna part with? Prefer synthetic, looking at a Fibermark, but they purty firm on price so i'll probably pass. I've never been a 270 Winchester fan (30/06 either) but i like the 270wsm and I'd like to get my hands on the Weatherby Mag

Yep. That I’ve never shot. But need too. Some on those shooting center deals.
Ruger #1 is my favorite. But never shot it.

Why that caliber?

I dunno really, just got the hankering for one, and I like hard to find and odd ball calibers 😄

It's extremely flat shooting and turns them off like a switch.

I have a good friend that lives on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska and he hunts with a Mark 5 270 Weatherby. He shoots 150 gr Nosler Partitions and he uses it for brown bears and moose. He says it is a hammer as long as you do your part, but that's true of any caliber. Buy an old M700 Remington and send the barrel off to Douglas and let them duplicate the contour so that you wont need to do any shock work. Jimmy McCollough over in Valley Grande can handle that job and he is the best 'smith to be found. You have my vote James, I like the 270 Weatherby too. An old hunting buddy of mine had a 264 Win that had the throat shot out and he bought a 270 Weatherby to replace it. Said it was a better round than the 264 ever dared to be.

FYI, Jim is mostly retired, but he will help out special friends. One of my dream guns, actually at the top of the list is one of his custom builds. People that have them swear by them.

He is the best though, and heck of a nice, helpful fella.

That pic is my .270Wby; my .257Wby is a Browning B78. That .270 MK V started out as one of the beaded blasted black models; sometimes you can find them cheap because they are not "lookers". Had it Cerakoted Blue Titanium and put in a McMillan stock with S&K scope mounts. Now has a Swaro 4-16x50.

Kick doesn't bother me, one of my favorite rounds to carry is my 308 warbird and i have all kinds in between lol But i appreciate the offer, my frien has a 300 & a 7mm weatherby for sale now at his place on consignment, thought about the 7mm but it don't do nuttin for me really, i already have a 7mm stw, 28 nos, and 7mm prc

I’ve got a Weatherby Mk V in .300 Weatherby Magnum. Synthetic with stainless barrel and action. Comes with a set of bases and rings. It’s sitting in the consignment sale rack at Quints Sporting Goods in Saraland. I traded for a Sako in .338 Win Mag that replaced it. If you’re interested I’ll go get it and we can trade on something. You got too many wheel guns I’m sure. Comes with four or five boxes of ammo, two of which are Weatherby brand ammo. Different bullet weights. I bought a box every time I saw one for sale reasonably priced. .300 Wby isn’t common but I see it way more than I do .270 Wby but that may be because I was looking for it. Very flat shooting round based on the ballistic charts I’ve seen.
