Wanna be on that boat?

People ask me why wife & I don't do cruises. For the uneducated - the norovirus hits both diarrhea and projectile vomiting. I caught it on a trip to New Mexico. Four of the most miserable days I've ever had. Its highly contagious.

You will never see me on one of those floating petri dishes.

Damn norovirus will wake you up at 0200 and make you find out just how fast you can get to the toilet. Then like you say, its 48-72 hours of that action combined with another day or two just to get your strength back.

What’s that, around 3% of people sick out of a gathering of 2800 plus staff? Back in the day it was higher at the Golden Corral buffet.

Had it once when I was in college. Sitting on the toilet blowing it out and puking in the bathtub at the same time. My roommate drove me to the infirmary and they had to put me on IV for dehydration.

I doubt I'll ever do another cruise and the worst food poisoning I ever had was from the Pizza Hut Buffet so now I rarely eat at a buffet. The thing about that now is that up here there are a lot of buffet places. Mildred's in Ardmore is supposed to be top notch, maybe one day I'll give it a shot. The restaurant owners in Selma know better than to try a buffet, so I never had that issue when living there.

It's a petri dish and I've only had the desire to go on one cruise trip and that was to Alaska. We chose not to and I don't regret it.

If I'm being honest, the illness is far less concerning to me than getting trapped on a boat full of American Ghetto Dwellers who don't know how to act. I'd rather have projectile vomiting.

Last cruise ship I was on, the entire crew had a really dry cough. Got back and had caught the same thing. It was H1N1.

I am going to suggest to ramp up zinc and vit C and D2/K3. Maybe not just "ramp up" but as my chiropractor says, "pound it!" Like 6 times a day. I did that on our last cruise where I had some bad cold/ probably covid though I never tested positive for it. I just felt yucky and sinus crap. Probably got it on the plane. It only lasted about 3 days and on the 4th day I was golden but this was a 17 day cruise. I am a hand washing fool on a cruise. And sometimes that doesn't matter. Hope you have an awesome time!

We keep hand sanitizer close and wash hands every time I pass a sink
I usually get a sinus infection when we get home because the Bahai grass will be knee high

Boho and I have had great experiences on the two 3 week overseas cruises we have taken on Norwegian to Europe and Central America. Longer cruises like that have a slightly different type of passenger than the 3 & 4 day cruises to the Caribbean. No way I would be caught dead on one of those booze cruise party boats if you gave me a ticket for free.

The worst people we encountered on those cruises were the Nuevo rich Indians and Chinese and most of them were OK.

Yes. We have learned to go with the smaller ships and longer duration. Never had the ghetto problem you see on YouTube
We do Royal Caribbean and like you said, the only problems I ever see are from rich white folks.
We are on the Jewel in 2 weeks. It may be the oldest ship in the fleet. Usually on these old ships the crew has been together for a long time and seem to be happier.

I’ll be heading out on one in a couple weeks as well. This will be my 3rd cruise. I enjoy them, but we are not on Carnival this time. Carnival seems to attract the party crowd. We are on Princess.

We did Alaska before COVID by a couple of years and can't recall seeing any Democrats. If we did they were so inconspicuous that I can't remember them. We did see plenty of Asians like you mentioned. The thing that stood out about them was that they always were masked up and very often in gloves. Like I said, this was well before COVID too. They were obsessive about it. A nice trip but I think if I ever do a big trip like that again, I'd like to see England, Scotland, and Ireland. The reason we did that one was because my mother wanted all her children to go on vacation with her. All her children and grandchildren went except one grandson who had just started a new job. Great scenery to be seen and no matter what I can say I've been to Canada.
