So...
If space is boundless, then why would anyone think that we, on this tiny rock, in an ocean of galaxies, are the only one to have intelligent life on it? (And I use the term "intelligent" very loosely.) Because it would contradict pretty much the first two chapters of Genesis. Galileo was arrested by the Catholic Church for advocating heliocentrism. That crazy idea that the Earth revolved around the Sun and that the Sun was at the center of the solar system and that the solar system revolved with other stars around the center of the Milky Way. That was just about 400 years ago. A bunch of Egyptians, Chinese, Persians, Indians, random African groups, Native American groups, and others, figured that out and accepted it well over 12,000 years ago.
