Madison native Rachel Entrekin wins 250 mile Ultra-Marathon; not the top female, she beat the entire field.
Ran 250 miles across Arizona

That's a machine

That's impressive to not only win a race like that but to crush the record as a female runner on very minimal sleep/rest is really something. I've ran a few marathons myself but never gotten to the ultra level. Hoping to some day get a 100 miler in, but I can't imagine the amount of training, planning, logistics, and money that goes into competing in one of these events.

But can she make a sandwich and iron a shirt?

Well if you watch the video you will see why I love Arizona so much. Besides being born there and spending a good deal of my childhood there, it is just a state with amazing scenery and wildlife. This was all across northern AZ and not the true desert land. The elevation for the race would probably average about 5000 ft. It would be called "High Desert" land up to the foothills of the Rockies. Apparently, they went south of the Grand Canyon. They had to have crossed a reservation or two. They also had to have gone through some of the best elk hunting in the nation. Good luck getting a tag though. I was in the last group of non-residents to have been in the pool that had a reasonable shot at a tag. I drew an archery bull tag. Called in several, but never connected. I also called in a Black Bear several times during the week or so of hunting. That was fun.

I don't know her, but I do know any time a record is broken, it's usually in seconds or minutes. Not hours. I hope it's not the case. Awesome if she actually did it. But won't surprise me a bit if some funny business took place either.

Shaving an hour off a record is a big big deal.

I saw where a woman was attacked by a bear while running a double marathon down in that area. The bear attack didn't get my attention as much as running 52 miles at 9,000 feet! Those folks are incredible .

Knew who she was but didn’t know she was from here. Those people are a different breed. Did watch a film about her race and she had a really good team helping her. Congratulations to her

Just finishing that race is a feat in itself, but competing and winning is another level. Quite a few documentaries on YouTube about it. It’s such a tough race that another female runner actually died attempting it this year.

Not surprised. Women often win the Moab 240 and some have won it by multiple hours. Races of those distance are more about mental toughness than pure physical endurance. Rogan interviewed the female winner of the Moab 240 years ago and it was fascinating.

Feel for her husband. Imagine being married to someone stubborn enough and crazy enough to run 250 miles. Poor guy never wins an argument.

Kudos to her accomplishment but I sincerely hope I’m never stricken with the desire to run an ultra.

You've got to have some major demons to put yourself through that. It's such a mental thing.

My daughter did a 100 miler through the mountains of Utah last year. We went and watched the grandkids while she did it. Crazy 🤪 in my opinion lol I choose my hobbies for fun not pain

My daughter has run several.100 mile races. I paced her several times. Once 18 miles in the mountains. That was tough. The normal person doesn't have the discipline required to run these races IMO. Ive run off and on most of my life and I would never try a 100 mile race, much less a 250 mile race.
