Looks like the CAB has decided to move the turkey season opener from March 25th to March 20th next year. I'm shocked, but at least it's a step in the right direction

I knew there was a chance with Tennessee moving it up a week that Alabama would feel the pressure to follow suit. They can go screw themselves though for not listening to us. I still wish we could limit out of state hunters for the first one to two weeks of season like Mississippi does. North Alabama gets hammered by Tennessee and Arkansas people.

They can have those days at the end. Haven’t heard a turkey gobble in two weeks.

I also feel that hunting into me and busting hens off nest does more harm than any Early March Hunting ever does

Well that’s a good thing. Limit still 4? Not that I’ll ever get it again but just curious.

I like the later season. I have great nesting and brooding cover and they don’t start showing up good until the 2nd half of the season. My gobblers have been hammering lately. I’m just not a good enough turkey hunter to close the deal.

And based on CNC’s kill charts, it doesn’t appear to be a problem killing turkeys.

The later season the gobblers are less likely to be henned up and more receptive to hunting. Now they’ll be pressured while henned up. Either way probably the same number of birds will get killed more than likely.
March 20 is the southern date when I first started back in the early 90s and April 1 here. It does seem to be getting warmer earlier.

I agree. Season should start on public the same time as private and they should just limit non residents to a later season on public.
Having to wait 10 days to kill another if you kill one opening day is garbage also.
