I found my Honda ATV that got stolen on Facebook marketplace yesterday over in Meridian MS. I contacted my local Sheriff about it and got the call a few minutes ago that it has been recovered. The guy that had it traded a boat for it and the guy who had it before traded another guy for it. The Sheriff is sending some guys over there next week to pick it up and hopefully by then they will have found some of my other stuff. I have looked on market place everyday since my stuff was stolen and found the 4wheeler within 7 hours of him posting it.

Hopefully they are all being arrested for dealing in stolen property. Only problem is the cops are too lazy to actually do the legwork to make a case stick on them so most likely, they will just continue to trade in and fence stolen property (if they were not involved in the theft ring to start with). Good deal that you found it. Otherwise it would have been gone forever.

If items are not required to be registered, how is someone to know if they are about to buy (or trade) an item that was stolen?
I do see people arrested from time to time for receiving stolen property, but I always assumed that it meant that it could be proven that those folks knew the items were stolen.

They have it traced back to a atv chop shop over on the Alabama Mississippi line. Hopefully they will be able to find my Ranger during their investigation.

Despite the negative comment about lazy police, this happens more often than people realize. I know it isn't often enough for those that are victims, but it does happen. This is especially the case for firearms. I can't tell you how many stolen firearms I recovered in my career.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

The owners of the property where we hunt in Macon County had 3 ATVs and 1 UTVs along with a trailer stolen. They cut into metal building to get them. The Auburn Ag building over close to use had like 12 ATVs stolen. The farm theft officer from the state troopers said that they were probably all in Atlanta by the next day.

Little different, but i heard around Houston that chop shops are robbing parts of vehicles avs leaving then on the street. They are sorting the parts on their shelves. The insurance company totals the vehicle and auctions it. The chop shops are buying the vehicles, putting original parts back on them and selling them. Probably been going on for years, but something i just learned.

The front rack had a small bend in the upper bar and the Rancher sticker had some scratches that I was able to compare to pics of mine. That and there are very few 2018 Rancher 4wd with electric shift and independent rear suspension for sale.

My buddy had a 4 wheeler stolen from their place down in Chilton Co. several years ago. As he and the cop were standing there filling out a report, a couple of the locals rode past them on his 4wheeler. My buddy got excited and pointed it out thinking they’d tear out after it. The cop looked at him and straight up told him, the best thing you can do is file a claim on your insurance and let them pay you. He went on to say the police were more interested in arresting the thieves for the meth they were cooking and selling than they were the stolen ATV. Said chasing them over an ATV would compromise the investigations being done on the meth.
