If the choke and load are appropriate it is a great choice.

Modified will be fine. I have had better luck with heavier payloads as opposed to the cheapest shells you can buy. I got set up to load 16 and was loading 1 1/8th of 9s. Now it's about break even to buy shells or load since lead shot has skyrocketed.

You are not going to be happy with it. I, being a fine human being tho, would take it off your hands.

Where are you finding them because I have checked everywhere but marks in bham and Tuscaloosa. And nobody has any. I’ll throw the gun away before I buy at marks

Bass Pro or cabelas usually has their Herter brand fairly reasonable. I've bought it at the Prattville store a couple boxes at a time. Never seen it at an Academy. I am lucky enough to have been given about two cases of Remington dove loads a couple years go. Be willing to let you get a couple boxes it you want to get it shooting.

Did you get a new or old A5? I had an early 80s Sweet Sixteen that was stolen a few years back. Replaced it with a new Sweet Sixteen, that I really like. Only problem I have with it is the price. It's not worth the $1900 it cost.

If something falls through with Blade's deal, I'll be a sport and take it off your hands to help you out since 16 ga. shells are higher than giraffe coochie.

Among the 16ga shells I was given, was a bucket of mismatched 16ga from years ago, there was about 2 boxes of Federal 16ga 1 1/4oz 7.5s, purple hulls with ducks and geese on them. They pack an absolute punch, wish they were still legal for ducks!

You've got a good one. I was gonna spend the money I had on the new one, for an older gun. But I have a real problem with buying nice vintage guns and being too afraid to hunt with them and scratch them up. You're probably aware of setting the friction ring up, but make sure it's set up for the load. They are bad about cracking at the fore end from years of improper set up with heavy loads.

Maybe able to find you some dove/upland loads around my area. I'll let you know.

Love a good hunting story, love my family and friends. Some people you can't, but acted like do.

I ordered a couple off of natchez SS. If I can find what it likes I’ll just order a couple cases.

16 gauge has gained a lot of popularity over the past few years, I can regularly find it at Academy and Walmart. Bass Pro also usually has some of the herters shells at a good price. 1 ounce loads usually pattern best in my guns.
