I buy them to put my batteries in to connect to my cameras. Drill a hole in the side of the box and run the cable from the battery to the camera. Don't have to depend on 2a batteries any more.
I do the same
Works good until the river rises over it and fills it with mud and water OR a bear finds it 10' up a tree and rips it down to chew on it lol.
I have a few of the military metal ammo cans and can get more for free if need be luckily...
