The good ole day at the camp in the marsh. During the summer we’d go to the sandbar in the lake and clean up every afternoon. During the winter we’d get water out of the bayou and heat it in a big pot. Sometimes it was so cold we’d just pass the water by us and not get a real cleaning until it warmed up or we got home.

Rotary telephones
3 tv channels and maybe uhf
Watching original Bonanza not like reruns of today.😂 as well as the Vietnam War on nightly news. I remember watching the Easter offensive in 72.
NWA Wrestling from Florida with Gordon Solie.
CB radios.
No cellphones or internet. Play with a Duncan yo yo or whizzer or hot wheels or board games like monopoly. Hunt lizards.
Having family conversations at dinner.
Bell bottoms, flowered shirts, and leisure suits rofl
Reel to reel and 8 tracks.
Stuff on tv from Ronco like pocket fisherman.
Sweden House buffet every other Sunday after church. Looked forward to soft serve ice cream machine. Food was different in the 60s and 70s.
McDonald’s fish sandwich or Arthur Treachers fish and chips on Fridays.

I remember the Texas "Blue" laws. 42 specific categories in which retailers could either sell on Saturday or Sunday, but not both. One example was hardware. A store like Lowe's or Home Depot could have to close on either a Saturday or Sunday. Called blue laws because stores like Sears would block access to certain items for sale on Sunday using blue tape. Today the only blue laws left are selling hard liquor and cars on Sunday.

Anyone besides me ever catch june bugs and tie a 3 or 4 ft piece of sewing thread to their leg and fly them around until the thread broke or the leg came off?
And what about the original Saturday Night Live ? All the cast were great and I try to watch the re-runs when possible. The new SNL sucks and has for a long time now...its just not funny at all.
Watching Outdoors with Archie Phillips . Watching the series Baa Baa Black Sheep with Robert Conrad. Watching Fishing with Virgil Ward and Bill Dance. I even watched some Soul Train to check out the new moves, lol

Black Sheep was one of my favorite shows when I was about 10yo. June Bugs and Lightning Bugs were fun.

And they always had the same ol' dogfight scenes every episode. The Jap Zeros were North American AT6 Texans painted to look like a Zero....like you metalmuncher , it was one of my favorite shows and I still watch the reruns on the H&I channel.

Any of you guys who grew up in the sticks remember a peddler that came around once a week? The one that I remember drove an old converted milk truck. The refrigeration system had died and he had shelves along the sides with lots of stuff. I was only interested in the candy that he had. My grandaddy would give me a quarter and it bought 3 or 4 candy bars.

Remember sneaking out of PE class last period of the day to go out to the parking lot and listen to the car radio as Hank Aaron was closing in on the Babe’s home run record.

I vividly remember seeing the junk that was inside of Stretch Armstrong after me and my brother tied him to a car. I also remember being mad that I no longer owned a Stretch Armstrong.

We also broke the Rubik's cube to put it back together solved.

Add bottle rocket wars to the list. Kids today would be taken from their parents if they tried that.

We used to get some called Silver Salutes , shoot them out of a wrist rocket. They would go off under water. grin

Yep, sure would. I remember ducking to dodge a flaming ball from a Roman Candle and it went down between the back of my neck and my new bomber type jacket. It wasn't easy to splain the burn on my back and inside the less than a week old jacket. I told Momma that someone flipped a cigarette and it went down my back.

Then there was the time I was using a Coke bottle to launch bottle rockets at my step brother. Rocket somehow became detached from the stem and fell down into the bottle. It was one of those that went wh-BANG. BANG was still inside the bottle. Bottle busted and I got my third set of stitches that year. To literally add insult (Or should I just say pain) to injury, I got the belt when we got home from the ER.

I should add the occasional BB gun battle also.
