I messaged a guy who is an ATN pro staffer. He posted a lot of videos that looked good. He was pretty solid on the Tico 6. But, one of the YouTube channels dedicated to thermal and night hunting was not too keen on clip on’s. Mostly due to the cost of the adapters and eyepieces. I like the concept, just can’t make myself pull the trigger on one.

I got a Sightmark Wraith Thermal maybe within the last year for something around $1600 on sale at Midway. I also have a Pulsar and a Trijicon. And those are definitely better scopes.
I've shot everything I've shot since the end of deer season with the Sightmark and you know... they died just like I shot them with the Trijicon.
All these are Thermal.
You just gotta decide how much money you want to spend. That's really the decision here. You can spend $10k and have some cool crap to show your buddies but IMO you spent about $8,500 than you probably really had to. That's sort of the way I feel about it having spent more than $10k myself.
But I'm practical like that and not trying to impress anyone nor do I care what they think. I get more satisfaction knowing I got a better deal and the unit does what I need. No more or less. It just works within what I need it to do. Then I woulda had enough money left over to get a Barrett 50 cal. Which is way cooler than a night vision scope that will eventually die.
Clip Ons that I have used I thought they sucked. I wouldn't even look at them but I have dedicated rifles so maybe someone else only has 1 rifle.... Everyone's situation is different.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

This was a couple of months back so they may have restocked or have them elsewhere on the website. I saw some of the videos where they didn’t like them because of the cost but I still like the concept and may pull the trigger in future.

Give the AGM Rattler a gander, that's what I run and they are great out to 300 yds for under $1k.

I looked at clip ons before I bought a Pulsar thermal. Damn good for hog killing. Couldn’t really see any advantages the clip on had over the others.

I’m torn myself. I’d buy another gun Gina’s a dedicated thermal scope. The clip on I wouldn’t. That’s the only I’m checking out the DNT series right now.
Don’t realize how big a rabbit hole this was.
Maureen to shoot does off the beans when they are coming up. We got a deer problem.

I’m also shopping and spent several hours yesterday researching. I’m leaning towards the AGM at 384. Seems to be good enough for the handful of nights that I would actually use it.

I’m going to ask a dumb question, when you say clip on are meaning quick detach mounts? If so I have the super hogster with that and love it. I which between my predator gun and a 22, with no zeroing each time. A suppressed 22 with thermal is way too much fun on armadillos possums and coons.

Heck it’s fun to ease into a group of pigs with thermal/suppressed .22. Sometimes they forget which way to run
