Remember the TV playing the National Anthem at midnight, then turning off. I remember spending the weekend at my cousin house in Montgomery and the BIG BAM radio station signed off with playing Dixie.

Yes to all these things you guys have listed!! Im 64 and yall are bring back some very good memories . Dont forget pine comb and crab apples battles, having to rake leaves from the huge sycamore trees in the front yard( one of my chores) into a huge huge pile then me and the neighborhood kids running and diving into the leaves ,then burning the leaves, playing wiffleball and kick the can for hours with the neighborhood kids.... flying kites...I once had a box kite...my first one, and had 14 balls of kite string tied to it before the string broke, that kite was never seen again. Flying Testors and Cox string control airplanes in a cul de sac that were purchased from Spivey's hobby shop in West End, building homemade skateboards and go carts out of wood, going to local small creeks and building damns out of burlap croaker sacks and sand...flying model rockets...someone else mentioned the
Sgt Jack show on ch 42, I was on it, getting to dove hunt after school during the week with my dad ,going deer hunting down in Boligee every Saturday as a kid and loading up and retrieving our Walkers after the evening hunt, daddy had some really good hounds and ( one of my chores) I took care of them...go riding in back of a pickup when it was ok to ride in the back of a pickup, water balloon and raw egg fights on Halloween, Dialing for Dollars with Tom York on ch 6, going to Hickory Farms in Western Hills Mall and buying their sportsman sticks, it was like beef jerky and a slim jim all in one...they were fantastic! Im still reminiscing about the good old' days as a kid......thanks for the great memories guys!!

Smoking areas for students in school.
Walking to the store when I was around 10 to 12 or so to buy my dad a carton of cigarettes. He would let me use the change for a slurpee in a baseball star cup. I finally scored a Hank Aaron cup.
Fishing on the local piers and the Gulf was teeming with fish (it is depressing to go to a pier now).
Hunting doves pretty much wherever we found them. A knock on the farmer's door and an offer of shotgun shells in exchange for permission to shoot almost always was accepted.
32 ounce Miller High Life at the gas station for 50 cents.
Johnny Carson on TV.
3 channels to choose from.
My first truck, an F150 that my dad bought for me. It was barely used and still a current year model. He paid $4k for it.
My parents buying a 3/2 house for $21 K.
Our neighbor taking me deer hunting (my dad was a bird hunter only). I was hooked after that first deer stepped out of the woods onto the food plot.
Catching 10 lb bass out of said neighbor's ponds.
Really good rock and roll music that has faded away from today's culture.
Fishing on the lower Tensaw in gin clear lakes covered in healthy grass and slam full of fat bass, huge bream, crappie, and catfish. I REALLY miss that.
Fishing on the jetties at Alabama Point and catching way more fish than we could ever use. You very rarely saw more than a very few boats using that pass and there was one little store there.
Driving from Pensacola to Panama City Beach on 98 was a 1.5 hour drive.
Saturday morning cartoons.
The smell of bacon cooking on opening day of dove season.
Catching big croakers in Pensacola Bay. They have been gone for a long time now. Today, you wouldn't know they got that big unless you saw it back then.
Fishing in my first Gulf boat (18.5 ft center console) and absolutely smashing the cobia, kings, spanish, etc every single trip. I remember my brother and I taking an afternoon off from work to go cobia fishing. We caught 5 before we even made it to the old Coast Guard station on the beach. Then saw dozens more riding back in. I think I miss that the most. I tell young folks about the designated smoking area for students and they think I'm full of it.

If He'd said that these days he would be fired, blackballed, and they would be burning down and looting the cities. This is the actual quote: The black is a better athlete to begin with, because he's been bred to be that way. Because of his high thighs and big thighs that goes up into his back. And they can jump higher and run faster because of their bigger thighs. And he's bred to be the better athlete because this goes back all the way to the Civil War, when, during the slave trading, the big, the owner, the slave owner would breed his big black to his big woman so that he could have uh big black kid, see. That's where it all started! I saw it on TV later, but couldn't remember for sure who he was talking about other than black offensive backs. I do still have a mental recording of Woody Hayes coming off the sideline on the Clemson guy though. I was watching the game with my Dad, and I said "WTH?". Dad just gave me a funny look and said something about the same. I just knew I was going to get the belt, but I guess he understood my surprise.

Old TV's with the Antenna Rotor and it didn't work half the time - I had to go out in any weather and turn the Antenna by hand while my brother was on front porch relaying instructions from my Dad (man he got so pissed Every time I had to go and turn the damn thing)
Waiting patiently every month for the new Playboy Magazine to hit Dad's hiding Spot
Drinking a sip of his Coke out of a bottle with about half of it being Bourbon
