I'm almost 62 and remember so many great things from when I was young:
Memories: Milk being delivered to your front porch in glass bottles w/aluminum foil tops Government cheese Cashing in Coke bottles for a nickle Rotary phones w/party lines Leaded gas Paper shotgun shells (kinda predated me, but if I remember correctly my first shells for my .410 were paper) Government cheese Getting a piece of bubble gum in a wrapper was a BIG thing Using playing cards on your bike spokes w/clothes pin to make the "motor sound". Building a fort in the woods BB gun wars Church socials with musical chairs for a treat
I'm sure there are more, but these popped into my mind.
"The struggle you're in today, is developing the strength you need for tomorrow."
The Clicker and before that laying on the floor changing channels on the TV for dad. “Slow down or you’ll break the knob” Jarts Clackers / Kanockers Embroidered blue jeans “VD is for everybody not just for the few”. TV public service announcement National anthem at TV sign off “It’s 10 pm. Do you know where your children are?” Mutual of Omaha’s wild kingdom Plastic hot molded dinosaur toys at Sinclair gas stations Banana seat Schwinn bikes Cars with no seat belts Laying on the rear shelf of a no AC car going down the highway at 75+ with the windows down to keep from dying in the Texas summer heat. We were on the way from Houston to Chattanooga and saw gators under the bridges over the Louisiana swamps. Dad drove us through Biloxi the year after Camille came through on the way to see our grand parents. Copper POW bracelets Conjunction junction what’s your function? Not being allowed to watch Sesame Street because of the mixing
“It’s enough to make a man feel sour. Burning minutes every day by the hour. Just to end up gone like everything else.”
I'm 56 and remember those things except paper hulled shells.
Also had pine cone battles Microwave popcorn was frozen The only things on 280 south of the Cahaba was the animal hospital, Lloyd's and the White Barn. The sound of dad's belt coming out of the loops fast and knowing it's gonna hurt.

62 here as well. - "Milk being delivered to your front porch in glass bottles w/aluminum foil tops." -- our neighbor had a dairy farm and we'd walk over gallon jugs to get filled. I still sometimes catch myself shaking the jugs today to "mix the cream" at the top. - "Cashing in Coke bottles for a nickle" --yep. lunchtime at school we could venture out and get snacks and coke from a local store. We'd go find what bottles we could for money." - Had party lines - Only 2 channels of TV. - We could ride our dirt bikes on many gas ROW's and nobody cared. - The National Anthem was played before the two channels signed off...............then it was a test pattern. - Rode around in the back pocket of the VW Beetle because I was the youngest. Rode in the back of a truck bed many of times. My wife grew up poor. She said in the winter that nails in her house walls would frost over in the winter (we grew up in WV). I told her she'd never be cold again.
56 soon to be 57 here. All of the above plus having to go outside and then the antenna. Waking up during the winter freezing to death because you didn’t sleep with the propane wall heater on. Big dang attic fan and sleeping with the windows open at night. Our beds were next to the windows. Listening to the Rosery every morning in French. All the family sitting on the porch and all the grownups would only speak French. One of the biggest things was going to Grandma and grandpa’s house in “town” and we’d get a cup of Dr. Pepper and a hand full of Nila wafers. And the Dr. Pepper was in the long tall skinny glass bottles that you had to use a bottle opener on. Well anyway I could go on for hours.
It's hard to kiss the lips at night that chews your a$$ all day long.

Do you think Jimmy the Greek would get in trouble for saying what he said if it were today? For those not familiar, he was an oddsmaker that regularly came on TV to discuss pro football games and said that Black athletes were so good because of the genetics. He went on to say that only the biggest and strongest were brought over as slaves and furthermore only the strongest survived the trip to pass on their superior genes. That is only common sense but it caused an uproar. The network (CBS, I think) fired him and he was never to be seen on TV again.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.
