I am gearing up to buy a new truck late this summer. I have owned multiple Fords and Chevrolets and One Titan and don't want any of those. I am down to Ram or Tundra and Tundra is far in the lead. I know the Tundras went through radical changes during the Biden years and had a lot of serious defects. However, it seems they have taken care of all of that now. I would love to hear from post V8 Tundra owners on here and what you think of them. Also would like to hear about their hybrid trucks. By the way, I keep hearing of an AI "driver monitor" requirement in all new cars/trucks starting in 2027. If true, that is extra incentive to buy this year.

Why do you even ask because you have made up your mind for that tundra.

Cousin has a 25 with the turbo. It's a strong truck, likes fuel, but he has a heavy foot. I like the interior, well laid out. Does have some quirky stuff like can't put the truck in gear with the door open and other little "safety" things that will drive you nuts on a farm.

I am heavily leaning that way but I want to hear from actual owners about their experience with them. I have not made up my mind just yet.

Have both, a 2025 Hybrid TRD and a 2026 non-hybrid/non-TRD, both in 1794 trim. I will start off by saying that the Hybrid TRD rides better "stock" and has noticeably more power than the non-hybrid model. The hybrid power delivery is more instant per say than the non as well. You notice it everywhere and not just while towing or carrying a load.

Gas mileage on both is about the same with only giving up one mpg on average to the hybrid. Both trucks are running 275/65r20 tires and avg 15-16mpg. Have a heavy foot at times.

Ride quality. Again this is subjective, but to me the TRD Hybrid rides better than the non-TRD. I believe this is partly due to the additional weight of the hybrid, and TRD Bilsteins compared to the crap black Hitachi shocks on the non-TRD/Hybrid. If you plan to lift/level, keep in mind that the front CV axles on the non-TRD models do not handle the increased angles well and will need the red/silver CVs or a minimum a diff drop to compensate.

Interiors of the 1794 are great other than there is an annoying rattle in the door panels. Same on both trucks.. and all new Tundras I believe. There is an easy fix on youtube for this. Aggravating that my new 4runner has a tighter interior/less rattles from the dealer than these but oh well.

So far I have enjoyed these trucks. I can honestly say that when it comes time to trade-in, I will entertain getting another. Granted I do not need a diesel by then.

No problem. Oh and note that the hybrid model does not have any storage under the rear seat due to batteries.

Got a 24 hybrid with 60000 on it 0 issues strong truck. The “reliability issues” that people scream about were identified and apparently fixed. Every one forgets that all these other trucks have had more and bigger recalls and the fix for those ranges from deal with it (lifters in afm motors)
to adding more oil on the 6.2 engines. At least Toyota is just replacing the parts.

But to answer your question the tundras seem solid. People just don’t wanna hear it

Toyotas last WAY longer than Dodge trucks. Everyone knows that. If you're buying brand new and will only keep it a few years, buy whichever you want. I have a 2016 Tundra. Rides rough. I can feel every bump in the road. I hate that about it, but I have peace of mind knowing that more than likely, I'll get 300,000 plus miles out of it. I'm at 180,000 now. I have the 4.6 L v8. It's plenty strong enough to pull my Ranger boat and utility trailer loaded down. I get 15 mpg. I like the truck, but it's just not the most comfortable ride I've had.

Join tundratalk.com and ask around over there. There's another site..... toyotanation.com that has forums for all the models. I search those forums when I have a question that I can't otherwise get an answer on.

I had a 2022 Tundra with the TTV6. Added a lift and 35’s. Ride quality was still very good, acceleration at 60 plus was impressive, if not careful I would be pushing 80+ and not even realize it.

Down side was fit and finish, and I didn’t really even realize how bad that was until after I got different truck. I know folks on here are not Chevy fans but the fit and finish of my current Chevy is just so much better than the Tundra I had. Other downside was obviously the total engine recall that impacted my truck and the main reason I traded it in because it was going to be 12-18 months before the replacement would be done.

I am NOT saying Chevy is better, this is just my experience. Seems to be a roll of the dice no matter the brand nowadays, so whatever you decide I think it’s good to find a dealership that you feel will stand behind their product and provide good service if/when you need it.

Also, just my $0.02, I never considered the Ram for my personal truck. We have been buying RAM fleet trucks at work for 15 years now, and it just seems we have a lot more reliability issues with them nowadays.

If you decide on Tundra, do NOT buy a used ‘22, ‘23 or early build ‘24. As stated above, fit and finish (quality control) are abysmal, by Toyota standards and my upper trim model is a rattle trap inside the cab. I have a ‘23 and have had 4 driver’s seat panels, 2 radio knobs, leaky sunroof (into both grab handles, but “could not replicate” by service dept more than once), creaks and rattles I’m slowly taking care of (“common for the model”….Toyota, we build ‘em you figure out the f’n fix!), loose windows that rattle if only cracked and not all the way up or down (“common for the model”), multiple recalls and a plethora of TSBs, not to mention maintenance costs are outrageous and mandatory to honor warranty (ex: plugs change at 40k runs $600-800 at the dealership, differential fluids and trans fluid service is near $1200). Yes, they can be done by you or somebody else, with detailed documentation and receipts to keep warranty in tact, but it’ll be questioned heavily and gone through with a fine toothed comb.
It is fun to drive, but I don’t trust it and Toyota is slow-walking most recall remedies with no meaningful info on the horizon for when they’ll be available. It isn’t the Toyota you’re used to, any more…legendary build quality, reliability, and such. They’re the same as the Big 3.

I have a late '24 Tundra , non-hybrid , 4x4 , 4 door . Love it ! The only other 1/2 ton pickup I would even consider , I might , maybe, buy a Chevy/GMC with the little Duramax diesel .

Here's a recent thread about new Tundras.

Mine has a rattle when closing the driver's door , doesn't rattle when driving . That's the only rattle / creak / noise mine has, I can live with that.

FWIW, I have had 2 new GM trucks and both were solid. However, the 2nd one had a bad transmission from the get go. 2 days after buying it, the transmission began making horrible grinding/screeching noises. Chevrolet would not take the truck back or do anything about it. They told me to get a lawyer and sue if I must. Thankfully, the dealer did the right thing and put a new transmission in it. But that F you from Chevy customer service convinced me to never ever buy one again.

If these gas prices don't let up soon, truck prices should plummet. I saw that in 2008 when I picked up a Titan 4wd for less than half the sticker price. They couldn't sell them.

This seems to be a common question on this forum so I just copy and pasted my answer from a previous thread.

I own a ‘22. 49k miles. Other than a dozen recalls and another half dozen tsb’s, it’s been trouble free, lol. That said, I wouldn’t buy another one, wouldn’t even visit the Toyota lot if I had to replace it tomorrow and I was a Toyota fan. I had a 5.7 prior and it’s a better truck imo, albeit very antiquated comparatively.

The ‘22 and later seats are not comfortable, the plastic is cheap, the truck is quirky when it comes to the start/stop function, the user interface is the worst in the business, it’s really just a bunch of small things I dislike that add up. It does pull better than the 5.7 and gets WAY better mileage.

I have been looking at trucks to replace this one. I really like the Ram and ford but I can’t get a V8 in the trucks I want. I really miss the V8 sound (actual, not the one through the speakers). I have been thinking about going back to something I can actually work on and have been looking for a nice clean 6.2 Raptor to no avail.

PSA If you want a Ram, Mark dodge has the best prices by far.
