If the money and planter condition were roughly the same, would you be better off with a 7000 planter or a 7200 planter? Looking to purchase a no till planter. I think the newer 7200 differences are bigger unit frames, different down pressure springs on closure wheels, Both units are finger pickers. Anybody on here have any experience with either?

RDH outdoors sells rebuilt jd lanterns. They’re located in Minnesota. They have 7200, 1710 and other models. 3k and up.

Are you looking at 3 pt planters or pull type.
I plant several hundred acres a year with 7000
They’re solid, The 7200 is more refined but either will plant a solid crop when setup properly.
The 7200 is setup with the max emerge but both ca be upgraded easily
Make sure you match your no till coulters and closing wheels for your type of ground

I foune a 6 row 7000 for $6500 asking on fb, also I saw a 7200 maxemerge2 for $6k. Was wanting to look at both units. All I'll plant is probably 10-15 acres a summer for deer. I no till drill my fall food plots. From what I understand, the 7000 is a little more basic. I'm not planting for a living, but I do want a good stand of corn for the effort input. Just curious which route you might go.

The one that is best condition. Check online for specs for opening disk and coulters. Check down pressure springs and transmission wear etc…
As far as population goes they’re very similar. We get our corn meters revamped every year and the spacing is dang close to modern day planter. The only difference would be in turns and perimeter rows. Seed singulation a little bit maybe here there.

When I built my 2 row JD planter, it started as a 7000. I upgraded everything to the 7200 series. Row units are the same but shafts, bearings and sprockets are all way heavier duty.
