Coaching and umpiring are thankless jobs…..
Always ask yourself “could you do it better or would you even do it”?
I was over the park for several years. It’s a struggle to get coaches, umps, people to work on fields, and concession workers.
People love to complain about all of those things too.
Parents who just “show up” to the field and are unaware how much work goes into it.
I’d spend every off day stocking concessions and working on fields, then a parent would just show up and complain.
We paid our umps 34-40.00 a game at that time. We make $60 for a kid pitch game and $50 for coach pitch or tee ball. Babe Ruth we usually make $70
