Had a church men’s camp-out yesterday/today at a private retreat/lake. I’m told the lake was stocked 20-25yrs ago but hasn’t been actively managed in several years. Clearly it’s still in really good shape. Lost count of all the fish we caught. Most were in the 2-3# range and several in the 4-5# range…including a few on the fly rod. This morning I hooked what is by FAR the biggest bass I’ve ever caught, at 7.3#. About 20 minutes later I caught a huge crappie on the same chatterbait I caught the bass on. Never caught a crappie on a bait that big. He hammered it like a bass and fought like a bass. Very nice! Congrats on a couple of great fish. I caught a huge crappie on a rattle trap once that I would have sworn was a bass, the way it was fighting. I’m surprised I didn’t rip its mouth out when I set the hook.
