I used to always just get an ugly stick ultralight rod and reel from walmart and was happy with them. I used them throwing beetle spins and using weighted corks with crickets or worms.

I've got a 5 1/2 and a 6 foot Shimano Clarus Ultra Light Spinning Rods, both are one piece rods and have held up well for years. They are my favorites, I have a ugly stick that gets used for guests, it's ok.

Got several St Croix Panfish series all of them 6-8 Im pretty sure. They are really good

Just any old cheap $20 rod that cast well. On a calm day a cheap fly rod with a small popper is some real fun! Just get some either with good eyelets not wire ones. Some of the best fishing can be now through May if you can find them.

TFO for me. Outstanding rods for the price. While TFO is my favorite, I have several 8’ B n M rods that are great. Perfect length and action for throwing ultralight lures, beetle spins and for live bait fishing. $50 range.

Not real familiar with TFO, but do have a panfish St Croix, it is my favorite panfish rod by far. When my son goes fishing without me, he’s allowed to take any of my fishing rods he wants except the St Croix

I shoot docks with a duckett crappie slayer its a 6'6 light best i can remember and ive caught 1000's of crappie and bream on it.
We will burn that bridge when we get there

6'9" St Croix is my go to as well. I've caught so many fish on that rod it's crazy. I'm talking from the size of your thumb to 20# catfish...crazy good rod.

My daughter gave me a 6-3 ML Duckett Crappie Slayer. Only used it once so far but I like it. Good backbone but limber tip. It’s right. Shimano Sienna reel.

As others have said: Duckett crappie slayer. Better value for the money than St Croix. Both are excellent but Duckett is far less expensive.

Ive got the st. Croix and love it. But the acc crappie stix is hard to beat with a wally marshall speed shooter reel
