I’m thinking lithium battery. 36 volt trolling motor.
Main reason is my boat is a pain to trailer every time I want to fish. It would be
So easy to call marina to put in water. Problem is no power in the lift or storage.
So. It would be easy to remove one battery instead of three to charge at home.
Any advice on one ? Rhodan 120lb thrust 36volt

As long as it is rated 100ah, you should be good. I've had LiTime (2 12v in series) for three years now, zero issues. They were the best price at the time I bought them.

So I need the 100AH. Folks trying to sell me 50ah in town.
I’m just a weekend warrior fishing for the most part.
They said oh that’s plenty.
Which raises the question. Buy three 12 volt or one 36volt.

Do not get a Rhodan. Guys here hate them as they are always breaking.

This is maybe off topic, but my Rhodan is not particularly smart, and has required one expensive repair.

I have had it for 5 years now... I already have it.. Sent in under warranty first few weeks of having it to the local shop. Replaced the head or sensor or something.. Been flawless ever since.
I am asking about the battery.

I have 1 40a 36v and captain my son in high school tournaments and never even charge when we fish 2 days, but I also have an on the run charger that will charge while I’m running down the river. I will say we have fished in some pretty good wind and not done much running and I’ve never been close to running it down. Mine is an Impulse Lithium. Supposedly a 10 year warranty.

Ive had a 50ah 36 for several yrs and never come close to killing it.

I’ll be getting a 50a 36v lithium for my offshore boat here soon. I have a 84” Rhodan and it’s been good except having the header sensor replaced several years ago. I’m on year 6 with the Rhodan.

One option you might want to look into would be a power pole charge system. Unless I'm mistaken on how it works I think you could keep your lead acid batteries and that system would charge your batteries while the outboard is running and if you ever get around an outlet it can be plugged in to charge like a traditional charger.

I run my Ulterra for hours using itrack going against the current on the Tennessee River, so a 50ah would not last me a day. It depends on how much you will use it. I run 2 12v because my battery compartment is not big enough to store a single 36v.

I have two of the li time 36 volt lithium 55 amp hour i think. If you fish like i do one won't last a day but ive yet to run the two dead yet. Ive been impressed with the quality a bunch of us have the li time batteries. I hate to say it but the li time have been way better than the first impulse I had. They were nothing but trouble. Id have to carry an extension cord in the boat to wake them up when they went into sleep mode

Considering your situation, I think your original plan to buy a single 36v battery is a good one. And unless you are going to use it in an unusual way, I think a 50ah would work for you. I don't know the exact weight of the battery you are considering, but a 50 is going to be easily manageable when removing from the boat, but a 100 is going to be heavy enough to get your attention.

It's not an apples to apples comparison, but my first lithium batteries for my 24 volt Maxxum were a pair of 12v 50ah. These were the cheapest I could find -$99 each on Amazon. They worked great for about a year, but we went to the river one day when the water was high and I had to run the motor on high and run it almost constantly. About 3 pm, they shut down. There was nothing wrong, I had just drained the power. I probably used 5 times the normal amount of power that day, but I didn't like running out. I replaced them with 100ah and no problems since.

Everything in a boat is a compromise. In your case, I would think the rare chance of running out of power in a day is worth having a battery that's easy to remove each day. Of course, if you bench press 800 lbs this might not be an issue.

What y'all recommend for a 24v setup? I'm in need of some batteries soon (probably now) and I'd like to dump one to eliminate some weight, what's a decent one that won't break the bank? Also I'm purty sure my Dual Pro 3 bank charger won't charge a Lith, gonna swap it for a 2 bank that's capable of charging Lithium. From one's I've been looking at I'll be able to downsize their two compared to my Dual Pro (probably 6 or so years old)

I haven't made the swap yet, but when I do it will probably be Li Time, I've heard so much good about them. I think there on sale right now but would have to check. Right now, it's hard to get rid of these Everstart batteries, but if and when I buy my new boat I surely will.

I just talked my dad into replacing his lead acid with a 24 volt li time with blue tooth.i dont remember the amps exactly but 55 ish. He ordered one of the cheaper lithium chargers and he was in the $300 range. Seems like Amazon is the place to order them

Cool. Only one I'm seeing right now on their site is a 24v 50ah with Bluetooth for 319.99, that probably be plenty for what i do 🤷🏾‍♂️ The 100ah is about double

I have used a Rhodan 36v for about 4 years. A few problems, at first, but they handled them. I use a battery company out of south Florida called Abyss . This trolling motor seems to work well with the Abyss 36 volt. It’s on a 24 foot boat and has been used many times for two days without any issues. If I’m not mistaken, the battery I use weighs less than one heavy duty deep cell marine battery. Good luck with whatever one you choose.

Yeah they went up by $30 bucks today, but I'm gonna give the Power Queen 24v 50ah a whirl, i believe it will be plenty for what i do and i don't mind spending $291 to experiment and see how i like it, and there isn't a whole lot of difference in Li time & Power Queen after researching the two.
