Hunting in South Bama, you dont always have a big enough tree to set up on. I often have to set up in small pines or brush. Right now I am carrying a "turkey lounger" chair with me everywhere. While that is comfortable, I get tired of having to bring it along.

So my questions...
Do you have any input on the different vests that have the poles or frames that allow setting up without a tree to lean against?
Give me the good and/or bad please.

The good, I love the epeards gobbler lounger. The bad, haven't been produced in many years and are difficult to find. Great vest though

I had a tidewe with the frame and it was super comfortable just heavy and hot. I had someone give me an alps I think they call it impact this year that doesn’t have the frame but the seat folds from the inside of the vest and will support you. I’m liking it much better so so far

I just carry a crazy creek between my vest cushion and back. When I un do the cushion to sit I either use the chair in the bushes or put it down by the tree and sit on It

I’ve got one you can have if you want it. It’s an Alps brand I believe but it has the frame in the back. I haven’t used it in years.

Alps is the lightest for sure.

I have a couple of them.

They will break after a couple of years of hard use
though. Be careful when you sit down. Go slow

stick with the lounger IMO - i have an ALPS & it can’t touch my loungers in terms of comfort on long sits
if you’re in private buy a few & stash em on your land

Let me get it out and make sure it’s still in good shape but you can have it.

Little Bighorn Turkey Lounge, not made anymore. They come up for sale occasionally on Facebook Marketplace or the classifieds. I snagged one brand new for 80$ in college and still use it.

I bought a Bucklick Creek vest back in 1999. It’s the best vest I’ve ever had. I’m still using it. It will be a sad day when I have to try to find a replacement for it.

Yes, it's the Eppards Lounger, but mine also says Little Big Horn

There are a lot of new ones out there now from companies that are new to turkey hunting gear, and a lot of them have folding backrests that appear to be very light.
Even high dollar companies like Kuiu are getting into the game.

Those sell for around $300now, if you can find one. Have had a couple. Little Bighorn made a sling pack that is great, that's all I wear now. One buckle and I can lay it between my legs and carry's all I need very comfortably. No longer wear a vest. Also; allows me to wear a light lumbar pad, back saver.

Came here to say I saw a ad on Facebook today for the Tidewe. I thought it looked great, but I do not think about it being heavy. I’m with you on ditching my chair too, but I love the comfort on long sits.

I have one of those hanging around, wore it for years before switching to my current vest.
