I remember a quote from Kenji one time...
"A BLT is not a bacon sandwich with tomatoes, it's a tomato sandwich with bacon on it."
Sorry but I thought about this statement for awhile and racked my brain about it and I have to disagree. The BACON is the star of the show. If you want a mater sandwich then just make one and there is a reason the B comes first in BLT
I think the crux of the comment is that a BLT has to have really good tomatoes on it, or it's just a bacon sandwich.
For instance, when you make a ham sandwich, you don't call it an HLT. It's just a ham sandwich that just happens to have tomatoes, lettuce and whatever on it too.
Don't get me wrong... A BLT needs good bacon too. And good mayo too. Mayo is a big part of the BLT as well.
