I remember when computers with reel to reels took up entire floors of buildings and then later they got small enough to take up a closet. Now data centers take up more space than a small town and consume massive amounts of electricity and water. Here is a story out of Kentucky about a retirement mobile home park that has to vacate within 3 months for a data center. I wonder when the technology will leap again and we suddenly see data centers that are the size of a small house.
