Do you think everyone in Germany in 1939 wanted us and the Jews defeated and/or dead?
No. They didn't. Lots of them were probably decent folks scared for their lives and their families lives if they spoke out.
What did United States and our allies do to their country anyway? We obliterated that place.

The fact there were major revisions made to the Geneva Convention as a direct result of WWII should answer your question. We learn from the past, or we’re doomed to repeat it.
This also isn’t 1939, and Iran ain’t Nazi Germany.
