I can remember sitting by my stereo in the mid eighties, taping over a used cassette tape with my own songs. Id just wait for good song to play on the station i listened too and press record. I had some damn good tapes. Much simpler days.

Now you can do the same thing with Spotify but you don’t have to sit by the radio. Just spend about 10 minutes scrolling on your phone. Simple time done got more simple-er!

You also had the fun of listening to the DJ talk over the first 30 seconds of your favorite song but you recorded it anyway.

Spent many hours doing the same. Music was certainly better.

I still have my dual cassette Sony Boom Box in my cabin at deer camp. It's probably provided cover sound for some serious night moves more than anything else

Of all the things I have ever reminisced about fondly, that wasn't one. But it did take patience. We had it harder but better back then.

Plugging up the old cassette tape so you could record over it with your favorite songs. Tape,Plugging with paper. Who remembers that.
Love a good hunting story, love my family and friends. Some people you can't, but acted like do.

I had a couple Foreigner and a Foghat 8 Track tapes in my '66 Mustang GT Fastback that I wore out in the '70's.
I think I was always too busy chasing split tails to ever make a mix tape.

Oh yeah! Had the play/record and pause buttons all depressed and when the song you wanted came on, hit that pause button and there ya go! Hit the pause button again when song was over. I’d usually turn sound down, but the pause button again to have 3-4 seconds of silence between songs.

Now I have to ask what made you get rid of the Mustang? 66 fastback was a heck of a nice car I sold to a friend so I could by a 1971 Olds 442 with a 455 Super Duty motor in it pushing 550ft/lbs of torque. Fastest car I have ever been in before or since. It had a 3.73 posi-trac in the back and a turbo 400 transmission in it, and when you floored it, it was like getting shot out of a slingshot. Car was 100% bad ass. I was never out run in that car street racing. That '66 was a looker though. Dark blue with the light blue and white Pony Interior and Rally pack gauges cluster. Great car. I had it all the way through high school. Sold it in 1979 when I joined the Marines and bought the Olds when I got out of active service and went in the reserves.

He has said about every single anything with a motor, "I should have never gotten rid of that thing!" We would have needed to buy the ol Century Plaza just to use as a garage! We would be in competition with Barber Motorsports! Which now that I think about it, wouldn't have been a bad idea!

LOL. I guess I'm one of the few people that held up my end of the bargain with Columbia House. I got my 13 cassete tapes for a penny and my EXTRA bonus tape for $.99 and then bought the required 8 more at "regular club price", then quickly canceled my membership. I made the required purchases because I knew that Dad meant business when he told me I'd regret it if I didn't.
That was around 1984 and I still remember what some of those were. Foreigner Records AC/DC Back in Black Van Halen 1984 ZZ Top Eliminator (which I believed to be the greatest album ever at the time) RATT Out of the Cellar
I don't remember the rest of the club albums but I did have quite an extensive collection for a boy still in high school. I remember having 3 cases that held 40 cassettes and another that held 24 I believe and the lids were bowed up from a few extra tapes stuffed underneath. I even had a few Journey and Alabama tapes for mood music to play when my GF was with me.

No telling how many times I listened to Casey Kasem growing up waiting on my song to come on, so I could hit play/record.
