Up to that point, you are helping create a lense that that kid will look through and affect every decision he makes.
I think this mentality is a lot of the problem with kids sports. The kid is 10 years old, baseball isn't meant to be a 'commitment', it's meant to be fun (a 'sport' if you will). Parents have made it a 'career', it isn't, and that has taken a lot of the fun out of it for kids. A kid in elementary nor middle school should have to be married to a sport just to be able to play. Practicing 5 days a week and having games every weekend and being unable to miss a practice or game without being punished is asinine.

Well the first thing I said Geeb is that it’s NOT about baseball. It could be any commitment that the kid makes. But once a commitment is made to whatever it is… it needs to be kept.

You missed it too. Playing the game doesn’t teach you commitment. Keeping a commitment teaches you commitment. It doesn’t matter what the commitment is. Like I said, it’s not about baseball vs hunting. It’s neither about baseball or hunting. It’s about teaching your kid commitment through keeping his word. Commitment is the core value here… not baseball or hunting.

Aint missed a thing, like i said, if you think that showin up to a ballgame..is real commitment..your an idiot..because you took a game that seriously..its a game..like monopoly or uno..something meant to be played after real work is done..never meant to be worshipped or make a livin at like people do..you can keep your sports cult..ill wake my youngins up before daylight..an we will do real work with real reward..and ill not let them be trapped by the waste of time that it really is..we will go to the gym to exercise..an we might even play ball in the yard for fun..we got better things to do than bounce a ball.
