i know some of you folks on this site thinks DJT is an idiot and hurting our country, I think y'all are full of chit, the question is do you want Iran to have a nuke that will destroy our kids and grandkids. Yall need to wake up. Those nukes that were destroyed a while back? Are those the ones? How ya know if they were underground? just curious... This war is beyond nukes now and has become a regional thing for sure.

It’s a 10 million barrel per day disruption, not only from transit but also production in the area. At this point, the only way to avoid a world wide recession is for us to put boots on the ground and truly secure the area. I’d wager there is an extremely high probability that will happen. Otherwise, we’ll just accept higher prices and the related inflation. We’re definitely in a tough spot.

It’s a 10 million barrel per day disruption, not only from transit but also production in the area. At this point, the only way to avoid a world wide recession is for us to put boots on the ground and truly secure the area. I’d wager there is an extremely high probability that will happen. Otherwise, we’ll just accept higher prices and the related inflation. We’re definitely in a tough spot. Full global recession is already going to happen. The real threat is long term global depression. We can go in and try and secure the strait with boots on the ground and force. That may or may not work. It really is a gamble. Or we can figure out another way. It may make more practical sense to walk away.

This is the problem.
JUST IN: United CEO tells employees to prepare for $175 oil in internal memo, expects it to stay above $100 until the end of 2027.
That means, here in Alabama, we could be seeing $7-$9 regular gas. Diesel will be worse.

News also says, but its not verified news, that about 25-35% of US farmers have not secured their fertilizer for this years planting. Fertilizer prices are sky high right now and are going higher.

I dont understand this whole situation. I do believe Iran should have been taken out years ago. They have been the epicenter of terrorism for almost 50 years. They have been responsible for killing 1,000 of Americans. With that said, why are the gas prices going up in this country? Less than 5% of the crude used in this country comes through the Straits of Hormuz. Also, it has been said many times that the US produces enough crude to sustain itself. If we can sustain ourselves in crude, why is that 5% causing such a increase in this country?

Oil is priced globally. Its the petro-dollar. The same Exxon/Mobil that produces our gas here, produces gas there. Its one big damn racket. We provide the middle east with protection in exchange for the free flow of oil. Thats how the petro dollar is supposed to work. Right now, its not working.

Would our gas prices still go up anyway?

It really hasn’t gotten bad yet. It’s new and interesting. Truth is, this is the largest oil disruption in history. There is no other way to spin it. It is what is. It could potentially be wrapped up soon and the worst thing we will deal with is higher for longer fuel prices and the resulting inflation. If the current disruption remains for another 30 days or more, it will be much worse. I’m not arguing either way whether it should have been done or not, I don’t have all the facts. But like I tell my teenagers on a regular basis, actions have consequences.

It could potentially be wrapped up soon and the worst thing we will deal with is higher for longer fuel prices and the resulting inflation. If the current disruption remains for another 30 days or more, it will be much worse. I’m not arguing either way whether it should have been done or not, I don’t have all the facts. But like I tell my teenagers on a regular basis, actions have consequences. Yup. I ordered a fuel tank today. I am expecting gas rations, or gas stations limiting purchase amounts. The immediate inflation will start being noticeable within a week or so. It might be wise to stock up on some things now. Food inflation will be terrible by the end of summer.
