Not any worse than plate readers on cop cars. Ehh they’re similar yes, but I’ll make the argument these Flock Cameras are worse. I’ve seen them mounted at entrances to neighborhoods, so 24-7 that camera is watching According to this mapping website, there’s close 84,000 of these nationwide. They record every time you pass one. They not only read your plate they also log identifying marks on your vehicle, like that aldeer sticker. Plenty of cases where the data has been abused, like a cop using it to track down the person his wife was having an affair with. Once you start looking for them you will realize how prevalent they are. They are mounted on the poles as pictured but also on the regular power poles. It's impressive what they can do in a live situation, I have witnessed it first hand. I would prefer they are all gone!

I have one right in front of my house pointed towards town and the other that covers the road here is about a mile back towards town facing away.
A couple years ago there was a guy that rode a Harley into town about 4 am. You could hear him turn onto the road here 2-3 miles away because it was super loud. Plus, he played his music wide open. Every single morning. A guy I know about a mile from me reported him and the police car was waiting for him when he came by. He told me when they were doing it. That morning I got up and went outside and listened. Sure enough, soon as he got off the country road he opened it up. You could tell when he crested the hill he saw the cop because it wound way down, then almost immediately he opened it back up. When he passed my house, he was running at least 100. I later learned the officer had him at 110 before he lost him. That guy had made it to the next turn headed to the interstate before the cop even got to my house. You could hear him even when he got on the highway. They were waiting on him at the Briggs plant here when he pulled in an hour later, in his car. They knew his name from his license plate and they read the company name on his jacket: Briggs and Stratton.
Those cameras must be ultra sharp.
If you do the things you need to do when you need to do them then someday you can do the things you want to do when you want to do them.

The few I’ve seen around me don’t have any warning signage. I knew what they were when they went up about 2 years ago. I could be getting the details twisted, but one of the guys that invented these is now against lobbying against them. I want to say he’s originally from Huntsville. He was back in town for the holidays & held a seminar about them
The left lane is for the the purpose of moving the flow of traffic forward regardless of the speed limit. If your impeding the flow of traffic get your ass in the right lane. It's really that simple...

Those of you that live in rural America are not immune. I have seen several in rural Bibb, Fayette, Pickens etc. Yup I’ve seen them in some absolutely tiny towns in South Alabama too. With drone technology getting cheaper/better, it’ll be interesting to see how drones are used. I know law entrancement has some drones but I believe they’re fairly limited to Swat type calls or search and rescue.

There was a ATM stolen from a local hospital. One way in one way out with a flock camera. There was some floor work going on so the ATM was not bolted down. Guy walks in with hand trucks walked out with the ATM never to be seen again. Never thought the US would wind up like Europe with all of the cameras and personal invasion.

I have mixed feelings about them. Sure seems like big brother watching, as AU7MM08 said, but if my daughter were snatched up and folks were able to get a car description and even a partial plate, I would dang sure want them scanning for the car.
If you do the things you need to do when you need to do them then someday you can do the things you want to do when you want to do them.
