At this point, the only way to avoid a world wide recession is for us to put boots on the ground and truly secure the area. I’d wager there is an extremely high probability that will happen. Otherwise, we’ll just accept higher prices and the related inflation. We’re definitely in a tough spot.

Full global recession is already going to happen. The real threat is long term global depression.
We can go in and try and secure the strait with boots on the ground and force. That may or may not work. It really is a gamble.
Or we can figure out another way. It may make more practical sense to walk away.
