How many miles is on the truck? I would hate for them to put a new engine in it then turn around and replace the transmission a couple months later. I might know a guy that could get a motor from a salvage yard and install it. Sorry they are going through a tough time. It’s got 180k on the truck but they just had the transmission done in the last year. LKQ is where I bought mine. They will pull it for you.

I would check around. I've had 2 replaced in the last 2 years. Different vehicles. Are these places to get a salvage engine? More I think about it the more I am reluctant to tell her to get the same engine with the Active Fuel Management still running. She got a quote for $6700 foot a salvage motor with 100k miles on it. If Active Fuel Management is that bad, is it likely they’ll be in the same boat in a few more years?
