When I first started turkey hunting in the 1990s, my first turkey vest was a Longbeard. It was basically jusr a strap vest with a big ol pouch on the back and two big pockets up front. I don’t need a specialized pocket for every call. I don’t carry that much stuff anyway. Does any manufacturer make a simple vest like that anymore?

Run & Gun 200 Those made nothing like he’s talking about. Walmart usually has a vest similar to what you’re wanting but the cushion will be terrible you will probably want to change that out.

Well, how about a Filson Mesh Game Bag?
It doesn’t have a seat, so you can buy the exact cushion that you like or use a folding seat.

I started using a low to the ground beach fold up chair. I spray painted it camo and it works great.

Most important thing to me is the seat. I gotta have a thick cushion. Get with Glenda Green on Facebook. She has inflatable turkey vest seats that are the most comfortable I've ever found. You can send her your old seat and she will sew the straps from the old seat to the new seat in the same location and you will be in business. Best seat/cushion on the market.

Based off what you said: For a vest I would recommend the the Mossy Oak Strap Vest. A couple of pockets and a bird bag. For a minimalist guy have you ever considered a chest rig? There are others out there that are cheaper but T&K makes a fine one. Get you a good turkey tote (I might know a guy who can get you a good one) to go with it and you would be in business. Another one you might like that would be similar to what you are asking about is the Ol Tom Gunslinger.

Get an inner tube camo type seat- game changer. I can sit for longer and be way more still. Multiple ways to attach to your vest. Just trust me.

The mesh version is cooler, lighter and unwaxed (the wax messes up slate calls; I have to put them in a Ziplock). This vest limits the chit I carry. I can take a cushion or little seat and be done. The Mossy Oak strap vest also is a good rec.

The Filson vest that I recommended is on sale and is half the price of the Mossy Oak strap vest.
